Brighton Cardinal senior Kolton Childress signed his national letter of intent to play baseball for the Freed-Hardeman University Lions today in the Brighton High School Gymnasium.

Childress was joined by his parents Travis and Kim, siblings John, Kaylee and Kinlee and grandparents Ruben and Carol Cantu for the signing. Also on hand was Freed-Hardeman Head Coach Jonathan Estes and new Brighton Cardinal Head Coach Michael Wickersham.

Childress will enter this baseball season as one of the aces of the Brighton program. And he has the athleticism to play the field and swings a bat for high average.

Currently Childress is a power forward for Brighton Basketball Head Coach Stan Gatlin. He is one of the top scorers on the team and is helping the Cardinals fight for a top spot in District 13-3A.

Prior to his senior year at Brighton, Childress spent some time on the gridiron as a wide receiver posting up solid numbers drawing some college attention in that sport as well.
