*The American Legion and Auxiliary holds monthly meetings at the Baker Center starting at 7 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month. On the first Saturday of the summer months the Auxiliary have been at the Farmers Market informing the community about our projects/programs that help our Veterans. *Soul Out Ministries’ nutritional meal are served every Thursday at the Baker Community Center at 7942 Church Street from noon to 1 p.m. The program is a local non-profit organization, tax deductible. *The Exchange Club of Millington meets at Old Timer’s Restaurant in Millington at noon every second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Guest are always welcomed. For more information, call 872-8888.

*The Millington Lions Club meets at Olympic Steakhouse in Millington every second and fourth Tuesday at noon. The Lions Clubs works around the world for visually impaired and hearing impaired. The public is welcome to join the Club members and to make additional inquiries.

*The Millington Optimist Club meets at 6 p.m. the second and fourth Thursday of the month at Old Timers located at 7918 C Street. For more information, call David Adams at 581-4886.

*The EA chapter is here in Millington. Emotions Anonymous International. Emotions Anonymous (EA) exists to support individuals with emotional difficulties in their efforts to live a more manageable life by using the Emotions Anonymous Program of recovery. Aug. 16
Dance Night at the Baker is a event for fun and exercise from ages 30 and up. Join Arts, Recreation and Parks for live music from 7-10 p.m. Free dance lessons from 6-7 p.m. There is an admission fee. Bring a snack to share and for more information, call 873-5770.

Aug. 17
Come out for free dance lessons on the first and third Wednesday night of each month at 7:30-9 p.m. at the Baker Community Center. This is for ages 10 and older. Learn multiple styles of dance from West Coast Swing to Line Dancing! Parents are welcome to come and join in on the classes. Ages 15 and younger need to be accompanied by an adult. The dance lessons will be followed by a Dance Night on the last Friday of each month costing a fee. For more information, call 873-5770.

Aug. 18
The National Active & Retired Federal Employees Association, Chapter 1382 meeting will be held at noon Thursday, Aug. 18 at Applebee’s Restaurant, 8472 Highway 51 North in Millington. For more information, call Carolyn Cribbis at 413-7123.

Aug. 24
KICKS(Kids in Christ the King) will have a Family Night on Wednesday, August 24, from 6 to 7 p.m.  This is a mini-KICKS program, with a meal and modified programs for the entire family to sample the KICKS experience, opportunities to sign-up to work in KICKS and early registration. KICKS meets at West Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church, at 3099 West Union Road.  For more information call 876-5757.

Aug. 26-27

11The biggest event to take place at the Memphis International Raceway in seven years just got bigger as officials June 14 announced the addition of current NHRA Funny Car World Champion Del Worsham and “First Lady of Drag Racing” and four-time World Champion Shirley Muldowney to the lineup for the 2016 World Series of Drag Racing presented by Sunoco and the Memphis Convention & Visitors Bureau, set for Aug. 26-27. Aug. 27
The Mid-South Camaro Club “Riding For a Cause” presents the Riverfront Car Show at Tom Lee Park Saturday in Memphis. The event will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a fee. Aug. 28
The Last Friday of every month come join for a night of dance. Ages are 10 and up and children 15 and under to be accompanied by an adult. Bring a snack to share and parents are welcome. Free dance lessons are also offered through the week on Wednesdays from 7:30-9 p.m. For more information, call 873-5770.

Sept. 7 KICKs(Kids in Christ the King), is a program for youths and the Fall Semester starts on Sept. 7.  It will be from 6 to 8 p.m. and is for children

ages 3 to 17.  KICKs will meet in the Family Life Center at West Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 3099 West Union Rd.  For more information, call 76-5757.
