Month of  December
*The American Legion and Auxiliary holds monthly meetings at the Baker Center starting at 7 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month. On the first Saturday of the summer months the Auxiliary have been at the Farmers Market informing the community about our projects/programs that help our Veterans. *Playhouse 51, Millington’s Community Theater, meets at 7 p.m. every third Tuesday of the month in the auditorium at Harvell Civic Center, 8077 Wilkinsville Road.  Anyone interested in community theater is welcome to attend. Meetings concern current business before the group and planning sessions for future productions. *Soul Out Ministries’ nutritional meal are served every Thursday at the Baker Community Center at 7942 Church Street from noon to 1 p.m. The program is a local non-profit organization, tax deductible. *The Exchange Club of Millington meets at Old Timer’s Restaurant in Millington at noon every second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Guest are always welcomed. For more information, call 872-8888.

*The Millington Lions Club meets at Olympic Steakhouse in Millington every second and fourth Tuesday at noon. The Lions Clubs works around the world for visually impaired and hearing impaired. The public is welcome to join the Club members and to make additional inquiries.

*The EA chapter is here in Millington. Emotions Anonymous International. Emotions Anonymous (EA) exists to support individuals with emotional difficulties in their efforts to live a more manageable life by using the Emotions Anonymous Program of recovery. Dec. 15
IHRA legend and Drummonds native Clay Millican will be honored by his hometown with a sign dedication. The event featuring community leaders and representatives from around the Mid-South will take place at Poplar Grove United Methodist Church located at 228 Quito-Drummonds Road in Drummonds. Dec. 17
On Saturday, from 9 a.m.-noon Upper Canaan M. B. Church located at 9090 Highway 51 North will have its last Clothes-Give-Away for the 2016 calendar year.There will be a variety of shoes and clothes for boys girls, men and  women,hats, accessories, coats, and Christmas decorations Everyone is invited to shop.

Dec. 18
All About Fashions present Fourth Annual Fashion Show (Coats For Kids) at 6 p.m. Sunday at the NSA Mid-South Conference Center located 5650 Attu Street in Millington. Tickets are available and ACC donations will be accepted. There will be door prizes and food served. This event is for anyone who knows a child in need of a new coat. KIWANIS CLUB CHRISTMAS TREE SALES
The Kiwanis Club of Millington’s annual Christmas Tree sales begins on Friday, Nov.25.  Sales location is the Millington Farmers Market. Kiwanis members are present from 4-8 p.m., Monday-Friday; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., on Saturday; and 1 until 6 p.m., on Sunday.  Sales will continue until all trees are sold. All proceeds go back into the community for various service projects.  Projects include scholarships for a Millington and Munford High School graduating senior, support for the annual Christmas Basket program, the Millington Crisis Center, Boy Scouts, Ronald McDonald House, Hope House- just to name a few. Kiwanis International includes more than 8,000 clubs with nearly 400,000 members in more than 85 nations.  This past year, Kiwanis clubs donated more than $100 million and almost 6 million volunteer hours for community-service projects.

Art Exhibits *Dec. 30 is also the date for new art and artists to bring their work for the Jan14 exhibit. What time: 10 a.m., where: “Insight Gallery”, at St. Anne’s Church, 4063 Sykes Road, Millington, 409-8705 contact Art Director Morris. There is a fee (these funds will be donation for use of the church).  Each artist will need to fill out an art form listing the works they are entering, title of work, medium and cost.  We will use this information to make up the artist list and to make item cards for each piece of work on exhibit. *Jan. 14, 2017, Insight Gallery Art Reception from 5-7 p.m., “Insight Gallery”, at St. Anne’s Church, 4063 Sykes Road, Millington. Invitations will be sent out but if you’d like to send a few to your friends please let us know and we will email you a copy.  The reception is free and open to the public.

Throughout December
Munford Baptist Church presents the Ninth Annual Christmas Village 2016. You are invited to a magical Christmas Village. The Christmas Village will include music, snacks, and various village shops where children can create Christmas crafts and receive free giveaways. There will also be an indoor snow area and a visit from Mrs. Claus. Munford Baptist Church is located at 1253 Munford Ave. And the event is scheduled for Saturday Dec. 10 from 6-8 p.m. A Family Event for all ages (no childcare provided). Admission is free.
