Dream Interfaith Ministries will host its Fifth Annual Holiday Shoe Giveaway Dec. 20, from 9 a.m. to noon at Payless Shoe Source Store, 8043 Highway 51 North, Millington, TN  38053.  For information contact Irene Beach 487-7747.  There is a limitation on how many shoes are given away, be sure to leave a good contact number. Month of December The Kiwanis Club of Millington annual Christmas Tree Sales began recently. Sales location is the Millington Farmers Market and Kiwanis members are present from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, and 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Sales will continue until all trees are sold. All proceeds go back into the community for various service projects. Projects include scholarships for a Millington Central and Munford high schools graduating senior, support for the annual Christmas Basket program, the Millington Crisis Center, Boy Scouts, Ronald McDonald House, Hope House – just to name a few.

Kiwanis International includes more than 8,000 clubs with nearly 400,000 members in more than 85 nations. This past year, Kiwanis clubs donated more than $100 million and almost 6 million volunteer hours for community-service projects.

Santa Connection presented by Ritter will be held Dec. 18-23 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. (except Sunday) at 4880 Navy Road in Millington. Bring the children to see Santa and they’ll get a chance to tell Santa their most secret Christmas wish. Parents will get a complimentary photo of the experience. Team Trivia Night will be held Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015 at the Baker Community Center with 6-8 people at one table  costing $100 per team. You can pay at the event with cash or check. Make checks out to Millington Education Foundation. You can mail the checks to 4634 Cedar Ridge Drive, Millington, TN 38053. Each table must be pre-reserved; reservation deadline is Wednesday, December 31. Please call Mark Healy at 849-3866 or e-mail him at [email protected] to reserve your team’s table. There will be 10 rounds of 10 questions per round. Each round will have a specific category. For each question, the team will confer and write one answer on the answer sheet provided. At the end of each round, each team’s answer sheet will be collected, and the answers will be announced. A scoreboard with the running scores will be displayed. You are encouraged to bring in your own food and drinks. No alcoholic beverages will be allowed in the building. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three teams.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Millington Education Foundation. Rules and information on other events for the evening will be handed out at the event. For more info, contact Mark Healy with Millington Education Foundation at 849-3866.

SOULOUT Ministries’ Hot Nutritional Meals are served every Thursday at the Baker Community Center from noon to 1 p.m. The program is affiliated with Dream Interfaith Ministries and all donations are tax deductible. For more information, call program founder/coordinator Carol Jenkins 949-1675.

Dec. 20
Cross Creek Apartments Toy Drive and Pictures with Santa, come by the office on Saturday, Dec. 20, between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. for pictures with Santa and hot chocolate. Cross Creek Apartments is doing a toy drive this year, and all donated toys will be taken to churches and shelters in the area to deliver to children in need.  Have all toys brought down to the office before Dec. 20 so we can get them delivered before Christmas Day. Dec. 21
West Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church is celebrating the Advent season with a series of sermons.  On Dec. 21, the sermon will be entitled “ Christmas Love: The Story of God’s Gift to Us”. The morning worship service is at 11a.m.

Community Children’s Christmas Concert “Jesus Is The Reason for the Season” will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul M.B. Church at 8991 Richardson Landing Road in Drummonds. The guest will be St. Paul Young Adult Choir, True Love Drama Ministry/Memphis, God’s Children of Memphis and Special honor to the musicians DeJuan Richardson (guitar and organist) and Corey Alexander (drummer). The Children’s Choir will consist of children ranging from ages 3-12. If your children would like to sing in the choir or for more information, call 835-3267.
