Feb. 14 We Love our Parents Breakfast at Millington Central High School will be held Feb. 14 with welcome from Assistant Principal Nikki Jones-Wallace. There will be Counselor Corner with MCHS guidance counselors Ann Allen, Ashleigh Currie and Georgette Farmer. For more information, call 873-8100. Feb. 16 Millington Parks and Recreation invites you to the annual Valentine Dinner. The event will be held Feb. 16 with Milano’s spaghetti, salad and bread, with drink and a dessert. Feb. 17 The 14th Annual Black History Program will be held St. Paul Chapel M.B. Church located at 8991 Richardson Landing Road in Drummonds with Pastor Dr. W.E. Gatlin. The event is scheduled for Feb. 17 with the title Anointed By God with the theme Gifted Hands and the thought of “You’re Blessed to be a Blessing.” The honorees will be Shunta S. Tuggle, Vera M. Hayslette, Chamona Watson , Shiquita L. Woods, Brenda L. Johnson, Mashecka T. Currie, Maria R. Taylor, Kemicki W. Jones, Shirley J. Mosby, Mary L. Cooper, Carrie M. Wade, Christine D. Celebrate National Read Across America Day at Millington Elementary School. Those who are 6, 16, 64 and more have all kinds of great events in store. Millington Elementary will observe Read Across America on Friday March 1. MES is calling on community members to celebrate the joys of reading on Dr. Seuss’ birthday. Readers are needed in classrooms grades Pre-K to fifth grade all day long. Let the school know what works best for you. The Fourth longest running triathlon event in the United States –36th Annual Memphis in May Olympic Triathlon and the Memphis in May Sprint Triathlon is expected to draw 3,000 local, regional, and national triathletes and fitness enthusiasts. The event will be held in Edmund Orgill Park in Millington May 20-22, 2017 under 32 year veteran MIM Tri race director Wyndell Robertson, and P.R. Event Management, LLC. Events kicked off with the Free Sports Expo, Speakers and Clinics- Friday, May 18, 2018 from 3 to 7 p.m. Event participants can register in person and pick up their packets while shopping and viewing the newest in sports gear, bikes, clothing and footwear. Health and fitness clinics will be presented on nutrition, bike fit, running and swimming techniques, and avoiding injuries.
