Month of November

*The American Legion and Auxiliary holds monthly meetings at the Baker Center starting at 7 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month. On the first Saturday of the summer months the Auxiliary have been at the Farmers Market informing the community about our projects/programs that help our Veterans. *Playhouse 51, Millington’s Community Theater, meets at 7 p.m. every third Tuesday of the month in the auditorium at Harvell Civic Center, 8077 Wilkinsville Road.  Anyone interested in community theatre is welcome to attend. Meetings concern current business before the group and planning sessions for future productions. *Soul Out Ministries’ nutritional meal are served every Thursday at the Baker Community Center at 7942 Church Street from noon to 1 p.m. The program is a local non-profit organization, tax deductible. *The Exchange Club of Millington meets at Old Timer’s Restaurant in Millington at noon every second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Guest are always welcomed. For more information, call 872-8888.

*The Millington Lions Club meets at Olympic Steakhouse in Millington every second and fourth Tuesday at noon. The Lions Clubs works around the world for visually impaired and hearing impaired. The public is welcome to join the Club members and to make additional inquiries.

*The EA chapter is here in Millington. Emotions Anonymous International. Emotions Anonymous (EA) exists to support individuals with emotional difficulties in their efforts to live a more manageable life by using the Emotions Anonymous Program of recovery. Nov. 17

The National Active & Retired Federal Employees Association, Chapter 1382 meeting will be held at noon Thursday, Nov. 17 at Applebee’s Restaurant, 8472 Highway 51 North in Millington. For more information, call Carolyn Cribbis at 413-7123.

Nov. 19

The annual Christmas in the Forest Bazaar is scheduled for Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with lunch served from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. of soup and cornbread or hotdog lunch, drink and dessert included. The Bazaar will feature homemade jellies, james, relishes, baked goods, crafts, wreaths, Christmas gifts, raffles and white elephant. The bazaar will be at Embury United Methodist Church located at 2060 Locke-Cuba Road in Millington.

Nov. 20

*The Insight Art Gallery in partnership with St. Anne’s Episcopal Church will host an Artists Giving Brunch on Nov. 20 at noon, at 4063 Sykes Road in Millington.  Artists are asked to come, mingle, have some lunch and meet the public.  This effort is in support of the Millington Food Bank, all attending are asked to bring a can of food to donate in support of this great Cause.  This event gives the public an opportunity to meet the artists, gives the artists the opportunity to give back to the community.  The brunch is free and open to the public. *Join Millington First Baptist Church for its Community Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. at Millington First Baptist Church. This is a communitywide event where we all come together and celebrate what God is doing among us. A dessert fellowship will follow the service. Millington First Baptist Church is located at 5010 West Union Road. For more information, call 872-2264.

Art Exhibits

*Nov. 20 at noon, Artist Lunch, free and open to the public. Where “Insight Gallery”, at St. Anne’s Church, 4063 Sykes Road, Millington, 409-8705 contact Art Director Morris. We’ll have music, meet the artists and community.  Menu: Chili, Potato Salad, cucumber and sausage sandwiches, deviled eggs, an assortment of sweets.

*Dec. 30 at 10 a.m., take down art exhibit at Insight Gallery”, at St. Anne’s Church, 4063 Sykes Road, Millington, 409-8705, and drop off new paintings for January 2017 Exhibit.  If you are not able to take down your art please contact Morris and we will assist.  Can you bring you’re an art for the Jan 2017 exhibit for early drop off or later drop off “YES” simply contact Morris to make the arrangements.

*Dec. 30 is also the date for new art and artists to bring their work for the Jan14 exhibit. What time: 10:00 am, where: “Insight Gallery”, at St. Anne’s Church, 4063 Sykes Road, Millington, 409-8705 contact Art Director Morris. There is a fee (these funds will be donation for use of the church).  Each artist will need to fill out an art form listing the works they are entering, title of work, medium and cost.  We will use this information to make up the artist list and to make item cards for each piece of work on exhibit. *Jan. 14, 2017, Insight Gallery Art Reception from 5-7 p.m., “Insight Gallery”, at St. Anne’s Church, 4063 Sykes Road, Millington. Invitations will be sent out but if you’d like to send a few to your friends please let us know and we will email you a copy.  The reception is free and open to the public.

Month of December

Munford Baptist Church presents the Ninth Annual Christmas Village 2016. You are invited to a magical Christmas Village. The Christmas Village will include music, snacks, and various village shops where children can create Christmas crafts and receive free giveaways. There will also be an indoor snow area and a visit from Mrs. Claus. Munford Baptist Church is located at 1253 Munford Ave. And the event is scheduled for Saturday Dec. 10 from 6-8 p.m. A Family Event for all ages (no childcare provided). Admission is free.
