Month of November
Tops (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly)  meets on Fridays from 9-11 a.m. at Millington Community Center. Come join us the group to have fun. For more information, call Doris Landerman at 573-8536.

The Exchange Club of Millington meets at Old Timer’s Restaurant in Millington at noon every second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Guest are always welcomed. For more information, call 872-8888.

Sunday evening church service is held at West Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church, located at 3099 West Union Road at 6 p.m. in the Family Living Center. A pot luck dinner follows the bible study.  Children’s activities and youth activities start at 6 p.m. and finish at 7 p.m., just in time for dinner.  Come join the church for singing, fellowship, bible study and food.  The messages this month will be the Advent Season Messages. City of Munford, The recycling container is located at the south end of Haddad’s Department Store parking lot on Crigger Circle.  Only newsprint, corrugated cardboard and plastics are collected at this site.  Additional materials are collected at the Tipton County Recycling Center located at the landfill on Highway 51. Computers may be recycled free of charge at Expertek, 70 Munford Avenue.

Board of Mayor and Aldermen

Nov. 28 On Thanksgiving Day, Soul Out and DREAM Inter Faith ministries will host the Thanksgiving Feast at Baker Community starting at noon.

Carolyn Jenkins, of Soul Out Ministries started feeding the needy at Baker Community Center earlier this year. Her food outreach program will be on dispay Thanksgiving feeding those in need. Nov. 30

Holiday Market and Concert Saturday following Black Friday

Shop local this holiday season at the Millington Arts and Recreation Holiday Market.  The Market is open at Baker Community Center from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.  Enjoy Christmas carols and hot chocolate as you shop for home made, hand made items.  Vendor booths are available for a fee. Admission to the Market is free.

Month of December
Christmas Time at the Y. Come by the Millington Family YMCA on Friday, Dec. 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or Saturday, Dec. 7 from 10 a.m.  to 1 p.m., for our Annual Christmas Craft Fair  which features edible goodies, crocheted and knit items, jewelry and more for sale.

On Saturday, Dec. 14 start early and participate in our Santa Swim by swimming one mile, the nursery will be available, all proceeds go to children programming in the Millington community area. Dec. 4 Kids in Christ the King is a youth program at West Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church.  It is a program for youth ages 3 to 17 years old.  It will meet on Dec. 4 at 6 p.m and the theme for dinner is”Jungle Safari.”  Dinner will include spaghetti and animal

crackers. This is the final KICKs meeting until January  2014. For more information, call 876-5757, ext 3.

Dec. 7
The Millington Christmas Parade is held the first Saturday of December at 3 p.m. The parade begins at Bill Knight and Newport, continuing north on Newport, right onto Navy Road, right onto Church Street, and right onto Bill Knight. There is a theme for each year’s event, which annually features more than 50 entries. Trophies are awarded for the best entries.

Celebrate Christmas Parade Saturday at 5:30 p.m., in Downtown Munford. * Line up: Proceed to your designated line-up position at 4 p.m and be situated by 4:30 p.m. The parade will begin to move shortly after 5 and the parade will start on the parade route at 5:30. * Entry Fee:

Individual entries are to bring 1 new, unwrapped gift and 3 to 4 new, unwrapped gifts for organizations. Gifts will be given to Toys for Tots to distribute to those in need at Christmastime.

Dec. 10
The Millington Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual gala Dec. 10 at the Holiday Inn & Express at 6 p.m. in Millington. The theme is Denim & Pearls. There will be food, fun and fellowship. This year’s title sponsor is Memphis International Raceway. For ticket information, call Teri Flannagan at 872-1486.
