Vickie Shelby is a two-year Breast Cancer survivor. She celebrated Saturday in Collierville with her sisters in pink, at the annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. She lives in Millington and wanted to thank all those who support her.
Month of October The Millington Lions Club meets at Olympic Steakhouse in Millington every second and fourth Tuesday at noon. The Lions Clubs work around the world for visually impaired and hearing impaired. The public is welcome to join the Club members and to make additional inquiries.

Trick R’ Trunk will be held Halloween from 6-8:30 p.m. with hayrides, games, food, pumpkin carving and decorating contest. Enter at your own rist the Laboratory of Dr. Frankenstein. All this will take place at Embury UMC located at 2060 Locke Cuba Road. All ages are invited.

The Brighton High School Lady Cardinals will be hosting a 5k at the school on Nov. 1 beginning at 9 a.m. It is a fundraiser for the program and Make-A-Wish Mid-South. For more information, call 837-5800.
The St. William Women’s Club is having their Annual Harvest Dinner and Silent Auction on Sat. Nov. 1 in our Life Center located next door to the Church. The church will be serving turkey and dressing and all the trimmings. The November meeting of the Lucy Garden Club will be held Nov. 3 with guest speaker Master Gardener Regina Berryman. Berryman will be demonstrating How to Make Holiday Wreaths and Fall Center Pieces. Lucy Garden Club meets at the Lucy Wedding Chapel at 6185 Chase Road in Millington. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. with the guest speaker followed by refreshments and than the business meeting. The public is invited to come out in honoring all who served in the first Millington Veterans’ Parade since 1974. Everyone wishing to honor our veterans is invited to participate. Millington’s VFW Post 7175 will host a community cookout following the parade at the post located at 4681 Cuba-Millington Road in Millington. (Rain date is Nov. 15)
A Fish Fry with pond-raised catfish, white beans, fries, cole slaw, hushpuppies, tea or coffee and dessert will be held Saturday at Fellowship Baptist Church FLC from 4 to 7 p.m. The church is located at 4635 Quito Drummonds Road in Quito. Master Gardeners Applications are now being accepted for the 2015 Master Gardener’s course and are available from either the Tipton County Extension Office located at 111 West Washington Ave. in Covington or by downloading one from the website at tiptoncountymastergardeners.com.
The 15-week class begins on Jan. 6, 2015 at the Extension Office; each class is from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday evenings. Applications should be submitted by Nov. 3 and there is a course fee must be paid by Nov. 28. The course fee covers the cost of the student handbook and class materials. The handbook covers topics such as basic botany, soil composting, herb and vegetable gardening, turf grasses , weed control and a variety of other points of interest to gardeners. Class presenters are Extension Agents, specialists from the University of Tennessee and other agencies and Master Gardeners.
