*The American Legion and Auxiliary holds monthly meetings at the Baker Center starting at 7 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month. On the first Saturday of the summer months the Auxiliary have been at the Farmers Market informing the community about our projects/programs that help our Veterans. *Soul Out Ministries’ nutritional meal are served every Thursday at the Baker Community Center at 7942 Church Street from noon to 1 p.m. The program is a local non-profit organization, tax deductible. *The Exchange Club of Millington meets at Old Timer’s Restaurant in Millington at noon every second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Guest are always welcomed. For more information, call 872-8888.

*The Millington Lions Club meets at Olympic Steakhouse in Millington every second and fourth Tuesday at noon. The Lions Clubs works around the world for visually impaired and hearing impaired. The public is welcome to join the Club members and to make additional inquiries.

*The Millington Optimist Club meets at 6 p.m. the second and fourth Thursday of the month at Old Timers located at 7918 C Street. For more information, call David Adams at 581-4886.

*The EA chapter is here in Millington. Emotions Anonymous International. Emotions Anonymous (EA) exists to support individuals with emotional difficulties in their efforts to live a more manageable life by using the Emotions Anonymous Program of recovery. Sept. 7
KICKs(Kids in Christ the King), is a program for youths and the Fall Semester starts on Sept. 7.  It will be from 6 to 8 p.m. and is for children ages 3 to 17.  KICKs will meet in the Family Life Center at West Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 3099 West Union Road.  For more information, call 76-5757.

Sept. 9-10
The 27th Annual International Goat Days Festival will be held Sept. 9-10 at USA Stadium located 4351 Babe Howard Blvd. in Millington. The times for Friday Sept. 9 are 5:30-10 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 10 from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. Free admission and parking $5 a car. For more information, call 873-5770. The 27th Annual International Goat Days Festival  has  food and fun for the whole family with Myotonic Goat Shows, Dairy Goat Demonstrations, 
KCBS Championship  BBQ Competition, Antique Tractor Show, West Tennessee Mini Tractor Pull, Dixie Irons Tractor Pull, Catch and Release Fishing Rodeo, Arts and Crafts, Lions Club Pancake Breakfast, Horseshoe Tournament, Kid Zone with, Games and Inflatables, Car Show, and new events added regularly.

Sept. 17
Millington City Beautiful Gardening Series will be held Saturday at 11 a.m., “Fall Container” by Bob Hathaway. Hathaway is from Memphis Area Master Gardener will be at the Millington Public Library located at 4858 Navy Road in Millington. It’s free to the public. For more information, call 872-2609.

Sept. 21
The Olive Branch Genealogy Club will meet Wednesday, Sept. 21 from noon to 2 p.m., at B. J. Chain Library, located at 6619 Highway 305 North (Cockrum Road). No dues and all from the metro area are welcome. Meetings on third Wednesdays except December. For more information, call 662-895-4365. Judge Jon McCalla will speak on The Illustrated History of Rosemark and Environs.

Oct. 1
Attention George R. Ellis Alumni, the class of 1966 is hosting a reunion to be held on Oct. 1 in Millington at the VFW Post 7175 located at 4681 Cuba Millington Road. For more information, call Jeremiah “Jerry” Cooper 603-1586.

2016 Monday with the MAC October & November The Millington Arts Council, along with the Millington Arts & Recreation Department, will begin offering art lessons for the local residents ages 15 and older.   In October, topics will cover:  Oct. 3 – Drawing Cartoon and Caricature sketching with Thomas Sellers; Oct. 10  – Acrylic Painting on Canvas with Lori Campbell; Oct. 17  – Camera Q&A with Bing Osterman; October 24th – Watercolor Landscapes with Valerie Shavers, and ends on Oct. 31 with a free Art Party event for kids up to 14 years of age.  These courses will be taught at the Baker Community Center from 6-8:30 p.m. on Monday evenings.  Class fees will be $25 and includes all supplies.  Reservations may be made with a non-refundable $15 deposit.

This Fall
Free Art Class at St. Anne’s Episcopal located at 4063 Syke sRoad in Millington will be held throughout the fall every Thursday at 10 a.m. except for holidays. You must be at least 15 years old. The first class will be held Oct. 13 (Basic Sculpture). Students will be required to bring their own materials to each class — bring nothing the first class. For more information, call 409-8705.
