The 2019 Millington Area Chamber of Commerce Ladies Luncheon will be held Thursday at Crosspointe Baptist Church located at 8850 Highway 51 North. The event is being sponsored by Love Worth Finding Ministries with Adrian Rogers and Cookies, Cupcakes & Classy. There are more sponsorships available. Sept. 21

Electric car event called “Benefits of Getting Plugged In” with speaker Joe Ozegovich, of the Sierra Club Chickasaw Group and Local EV Owners will be held Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to noon at Williams Hall in the First United Methodist Church located at 8029 Wilkinsville Road in Millington. Sept. 25

The Rally:  Come and be inspired during this annual time of prayer on Sept. 25. The event will begin at 5 p.m. on the front lawn with free MemPops for the first 300 students and games. Alan Goodwin and his band Novel Music will perform followed by our special guest speaker, Barrett Jones at 6:30.  Jones is a highly-decorated consensus All-American from the University of Alabama and a former St. Louis Rams offensive lineman who now commentates for the ESPN Network. He will share his story of faith and perseverance. The event is free for all students.

Sept. 28

The second annual Battle of the Blues benefiting the Millington Crisis Center will be held Saturday at USA Stadium in Millington at 5 p.m. Gates will open at 3 p.m. The event will be hosted by WDIA’s Bev Johnson. Retired Activities Seminar & Veterans’ Job Fair will be held Saturday at the NSA Mid-South Conference Center located at 5700 ATTU Street in Millington. There will be representatives from Veterans Affairs, DFAS, Tricare, Society Security Administration, Retired Activities Office Vet Center and more. The Job Fair is open to all active duty, retirees, veterans and spouses. Employer and information booths will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and speaker presentation time is 10 a.m. to noon. The 2019 Millington Fire & Police Charity Softball Game benefitting the Millington Education Foundation will be played Sept. 28 at 6 p.m. at the ballfields located at 4761 Jack Huffman Road. Saving Lost Kids Golf Tournament will be held Oct. 21 at Spring Creek Ranch in Collierville with a 11 a.m. check-in and buffet. The tournament has a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The proceeds will go to benefit the Brian Callies Foundation, established by Brian Callies and his wife Alynda in 2016 to save lost kids. The Haunting for Hop to benefit Hope Lodge Costume Soiree will be held Saturday at 7 p.m. at The Balcony located at 36 Quinton Avenue in Munford. Veterans Parkway Closures

Veterans Parkway (from Navy Road to Highway 51) will be closed during times listed below to allow a production company to film a televisions series, “Street Outlaws” at this location.  The City of Millington apologizes for the inconveniences that this will cause our motoring public during these hours, and asks for your patience during these times.

*Saturday, Aug. 17    6 p.m. – 8 a.m.

Time and dates are subject to change. There are no exact air dates yet, but these episodes should air sometime in the fall on the Discovery channel.
