The Brighton Cardinals took a big step toward separating themselves from the pack in District 15-3A beating the Millington Trojans 11-1 on April 6.
The rematch at Miles Park took place the following night with the Trojans sending ace Tyler Morgan to the mound. Brighton countered Morgan with its top gun Carson Hooper.
Brighton rattled Morgan early with three runs in the first inning. The Cardinals finally put enough pressure on the Trojans to emerge with an 8-0 win and improve to 6-0 in league play.
Hooper helped his own cause with an RBI hit in the second inning to make the score 4-0. Hunter Jones followed in the lineup with another run-producing hit to make the score 5-0.
With the Cardinals ahead 6-0, Hooper drove in the final two runs of the game with an RBI double.
