MEMPHIS — Man Pleads Guilty in 2024 Millington Kroger truck incident. Clarence Carter, of Nashville, pled guilty to reckless endangerment after a “shocking” incident at a Kroger store in Millington located on Highway 51.

Carter intentionally crashed his semi-truck into the store’s front entrance last April. He requested that Judge Blackett suspend his 8-year sentence. However, the judge denied his request.

Police said Carter’s actions followed a disturbance inside the store, which led him to drive his semi-truck straight through the front doors of Kroger on Highway 51. Several photos obtained showed extensive damage from the crash.

MFD says Carter was attempting to leave the scene when officers arrived. He was removed from the vehicle and taken into custody.

“We had to dismantle the truck to get the truck out of the building,” said Chief Gary Graves, Public Safety Director of the City of Millington.

Employees were inside the store, but none of them were injured.

Carter pleaded guilty to reckless endangerment and was given an eight-year sentence.
