Nestled in the heart of Shelby County, Tennessee, Millington is more than just a city.
It’s a community that takes pride in its appearance, its people, and its future. At the forefront of Flag City’s civic pride is the Millington City Beautiful Commission, a dedicated group working tirelessly to enhance the city’s aesthetic appeal and environmental health.
The Mission Behind the Beauty
The Millington City Beautiful Commission was established with a clear purpose: to promote and coordinate beautification efforts throughout the city. From organizing clean-up events to advocating for sustainable landscaping, the commission plays a vital role in shaping Millington’s visual identity. Its members, appointed by the mayor and approved by the Board of Aldermen, serve as ambassadors of civic pride and environmental stewardship.
Under the leadership of its elected chairwoman, Ann Turner, who assumed the role in January 2025, the Millington City Beautiful Commission continues to make strides in promoting civic pride and beautification by holding monthly meetings held on the first Thursday of each month, alternating between the Industrial Development Board (IDB) office and the Millington Public Library at 5:30 p.m., where members gather to plan and execute community-enhancing projects.
Current members of the board: are chairwoman, Ann Turner, secretary, Marie Thomas, treasurer, Bishop Roger Christopher and members Pastor Hosea Houston, Dennis Wages, Jr, McKenzie Morrow, Taylor Ellis, Thelma Brown, Charlie Reed, Lanita Johnson, and Oscar Brown.
The CBC seeks to enhance the quality of life and foster economic growth in our community by educating and encouraging residents and businesses to participate in initiatives that enhance the city‘s appearance and safety.
