UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE AT MARTIN

MARTIN – Several Shelby County residents were among students who received degrees from the University of Tennessee at Martin during spring commencement ceremonies held May 7 and May 8, 2021.  In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, UT Martin hosted four in-person commencements to promote safety for graduates and their families while recognizing the class of spring 2021’s accomplishments. Each commencement was livestreamed via Facebook and YouTube for those unable to attend.

The students receiving graduate degrees were from Millington – Toni Marie Elizabeth Richardson; Lindsey Sailors; Olivia M. Wakefield.

Students Honored on the Dean’s Academic Honor List at Baylor University

BAYLOR UNIVERSITY 

WACO, Texas — More than 4,700 Baylor University students have been named to the Dean’s Academic Honor List for the Spring 2021 semester.

The Dean’s Academic Honor List recognizes Baylor undergraduates for their outstanding academic work during each semester. Students honored on the Dean’s List earned a minimum semester grade-point average of 3.70 with no grade lower than a “C” while enrolled in at least 12 graded semester hours.

As a national Christian research university, Baylor’s mission is to educate students for worldwide leadership and service by integrating academic excellence and Christian commitment within a caring community. 

Baylor provides numerous academic and research opportunities across various disciplines through 126 baccalaureate programs in fields as varied as business, engineering, nursing, pre-medicine, music and computer science, along with 79 master’s programs, 47 doctoral programs (including the J.D.), the Education Specialist program and Master of Laws program.

Gresh Sebastian Lebron, of Millington, earned the honor in College of Arts & Sciences.

COLUMBIA STATE 

COLUMBIA — More than 150 Columbia State Community College students received honors for excellence in academics, leadership and service for the 2020-2021 academic year.

Preston Ford, of Millington, received a TCCAA All-Academic Athletic Baseball Award.

Columbia State is a comprehensive community college serving southern Middle Tennessee dedicated to nurturing success and positively changing lives through teaching, learning and service. 

Established in 1966 as Tennessee’s first community college, Columbia State has grown to five campuses including Columbia, Williamson, Lawrence, Lewisburg and Clifton. 

The college was recognized as a finalist in the 2018 Awards of Excellence for Advancing Diversity, Outstanding College/Corporate Partnership and Student Success by the American Association of Community Colleges.
