Couple Arrested: Shelby County Sheriff’s spot stolen car at Lowe’s, leads to apprehension

On June 27, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies located a stolen vehicle at the Lowe’s Hardware Store at 8490 Highway 51 North in Millington.

Sheriff’s deputies conducted surveillance on the vehicle until two suspects approached it and were taken into custody without incident.  Deputies found illegal drugs and other items in the vehicle consistent with the distribution of illegal narcotics.  

The two suspects, Gabriel Owings and Debbie George had been alleged to be shoplifting inside Lowe’s. 

The recovered items were returned to the store.  Charges include theft of property of $10,000-$60,000, use of a stolen vehicle license plate, possession of methamphetamines with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  According to the arrest report, Owings, 46, and George, 43 were charged.
