Star Staff Reports
Thousands are expected for the Fifth Annual Chocolate Tour Event scheduled for Saturday Feb. 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. If a visitor were to stroll through the historical downtown court square of Covington, they would likely feel the excitement of local shop owners and visitors as they buzz about the next upcoming event. In just two short weeks, Covington will host its 5th Annual Chocolate Tour, an eagerly anticipated event sure to satisfy any chocoholic’s sweet tooth! This year gleaming visitors can expect 23 merchants, all with a unique decadent chocolate treat. The Covington Economic Development Corporation (CEDC), with the assistance of the Covington – Tipton County Chamber of Commerce, ran ahead of schedule this year with tickets ready three weeks in advance for pre-sale. Posters and flyers have been dispersed throughout the community and surrounding areas. Event announcements are displayed on marquee signs and banners, and social media advertisements have been shared with thousands of viewers. Even the local radio stations have jumped on board with all the excitement announcing ticket give-a-ways for listeners who call in. Those looking for the perfect day trip with girlfriends or an early Valentine’s Day date, should make plans to visit downtown Covington for a real treat. Visitors might even feel the urge to have their picture taken with the Chocolate Dipped Strawberry event mascot — a fun new addition this year. Pre-sale tickets are available for $5 each at participating merchants downtown or at the local Covington – Tipton County Chamber of Commerce located at 106 West Liberty Avenue. On the day of the event, three different ticket booth locations will be available for tickets sales at $7 each. Visitors can stop by the Covington-Tipton County Chamber of Commerce office, The Ruffin Theater, or Patriot Bank for last minute ticket purchases on Saturday, February 11.

With tickets in hand, guests can follow the map with the numbered locations as they experience the tasting tour throughout historical downtown Covington. Even parking, restaurants, and restrooms are denoted on the map. After stopping by each of the 23 downtown locations, guests are encouraged to mark the location that had their favorite chocolate, complete the form, and drop their tickets in the box at the Chamber office for a chance to win a basket filled with chocolate desserts, gift certificates, and a variety of goodies!
