Millington Trojan Football Head Coach Chris Michael and staff welcomed a limited amount of friends and family to the Millington First Baptist Church for the 2020 Trojan Football Banquet.
The personnel at the First Baptist Church took care of all the food, setup and accommodations for the players, coaches and invited guests. After the steak dinner, Michael headed to the microphone to recognize achievements and present awards to his players.
The Trojan roster finished the 2020 season with 46 players and hosting a playoff game. Millington had 19 players with a grade point average more than 3.0 including kicker Eli Roberts sporting a 4.27 GPA. Roberts also found out that night he was accepted into The University of Tennessee.
Roberts was among the All-Region 8-4A representatives for the Trojans. Millington’s Devin Knight was named Defensive Player of the Year for the season year in a row finishing with a team-high 73 solo tackles.
Knight, Jeb Haley, Milton Yarbrough and Roberts were honored as 2020 team captains. Then the Millington coaching staff presented individual team awards voted on by the players: Jeremiah Temple-Dowdy, TJ Graves, Garrett Haley and Walter Jefferson (Iron Trojan Award winners); Eli Roberts and Adrian Dowell (Best Special Team Performers); Kenji White (Scout Team Performer of the Year); Jonathan Temple-Dowdy and Mccoy Pugh (Newcomers of the Year); Milton Yarbrough and Garrett Haley (Most Improved Players); Reggie Caldwell (Offensive Player of the Year) and Devin Knight (Defensive Player of the Year).
