This morning First United Methodist Minister Ed White traveled to Millington Central High School to present Millington Choir Director Jeff Murdock with a check for $4,000 going toward the fund-raising efforts for Murdock’s class to perform at Carngie Hall in New York City.

Last month, the word started to spread across the Mid-South of the Millington Chorale trying to reach its goal of more than $60,000. In March 2012, Murdock started the path toward his students performing at the historic venue. After their audition to apply for the 13th Annual New York Choral Festival at Carnegie Hall, the group from Millington was accepted and now has raise the money to attend. White noted the efforts at the church raised the amount in less than a month to help the 25 students looking to reach New York City. The group from Millington will be one of two from the United States to perform with choirs from across the world.
