Saturday morning, dozens packed ‘The Barn’ of Abandoned Antiques located at 8323 Highway 51 North to honor the American Flag with a twist.
All year long the team at Abandoned Antiques will celebrate the United States of America’s 250th anniversary. The day prior to the official Flag Day holiday gave Abandoned Antiques another opportunity to showcase Americana and educate generations on American traditions. ‘Let’s Celebrate Our American Flag’ had special guest speaker John Covington and others at the podium. Veteran Lee Ann Turner brought her great nephew Noah Cavens and the two stood as the country was honored with the anthem. Throughout the ceremony, Brandon Mosley took notice of the many American Flags right next to his parents Cordelle and Alexandia.
The Millington Central NJROTC presented the Flag for the anthem and then served the refreshments provided by Caked and Confused by Lexi. The climax of the day was the Folding of the Flag with its meaning. After the 13 folds were explained, Old Glory was presented to the oldest living veteran in attendance that day, Air Force veteran Ben Wolfe Sr.
