Since July, the previous light extensions and bulbs have come down at Mooney Bosewell Field on the campus of Millington Central High School.
Now with six golden stems, new lights have been installed just in time for the kickoff of the 2020 football season. The Millington Trojans have moved their Week 9 contest hosting Ripley to this Friday night at Mooney Bosewell Field in Millington.
Originally the Liberty Tech Crusaders were scheduled to open the 2020 season in Millington taking on the Trojans. Then reports came out of Jackson this morning that the Jackson-Madison County School System announced that it was moving fall sports back to Phase One of the reopening process.
There will be no athletic competition for Jackson area high school teams until at least Sept. 4.
That decision had a ripple effect for football Week 1 eliminating Ripley @ Jackson South Side; Jackson North Side @ Beech; Liberty @ Millington.
The Trojans and Ripley Tigers have agreed to move their late season contest up to the Aug. 21 for a 7 p.m. kickoff in Millington.
