Head down Navy Road the past couple of months, you would have seen the construction of the newest Memphis-area Dollar General store. The first Dollar General store opened in Springfield, Ky. on June 1, 1955, and the concept was simple – no item in the store would cost more than one dollar. The pricing has changed over the years including the current Millington locations at 6040 Raleigh-Millington Road and 7995 Highway 51 North.
