Last night in the William Osteen Gymnasium, the Millington Lady Trojans and Trojans earned victories over District 15-2A rivals the Ripley Tigers.
The Lady Trojans of Jason Nichols defeated Ripley 67-34. Micaiah Halliburton leads the way with 17 points, 4 rebounds and 4 steals.
Millington freshman Bailey Boone had 16 points in the victory along with 5 rebounds. Other key Lady Trojans contributing in the win were Keria McGhee with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 6 steals. Toss in Jerrilyn Richardson who finished with 8 points while grabbing 9 rebounds with 5 steals.
In the second game of the night, the Trojans knocked off Ripley 65-62 after trailing 21-7 early in the contest. The bunch led by Head Coach Jewell Gates displayed toughness in the comeback led by junior guard Seth Grandberry. In Millington’s balanced attack, Grandberry scored 21 points. Trojan freshman Blake Garner added 14 points going 8-8 from free throw line. Big man Josh Harris had a double-double with 12 and 10. Trojan guard Chris Barnes added 11 points in the winning effort.
