Goat Days 2017: Millington’s annual weekend of fun kicks off Friday

The 28th annual International Goat Days Family Festival begins this Friday with the annual World’s Greatest Goat Parade scheduled for about 5:30 p.m. That kicks off the weekend of several events and happenings on the ground of the historic USA Stadium Complex. Among the festivities will be the 2017 Smokin’ In The Goat Pen barbecue contest. It’s a IGD Championship BBQ event. The family-fun event continues opening day until the end at 10 p.m. on Saturday. Part of the schedule this year will be tractor pulls, antique tractor show, equestrian events, car show and swap meet, KCBS Championship BBQ Contest, arts and crafts, games and rides, fishing rodeo, horseshoe and corn hole tournaments, battle of the bands, incredible food, live music and plenty of goats. Benefiting many charitable organization, Goat Days is presented by the City of Millington in memory of the event founder, W. S. “Babe” Howard, sponsored by Republic Services, Ritter Communications, Homer Skelton Ford and Homer Skelton Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep.
