Lady Cougar Track finishes strong in Union City

The Munford Lady Cougars Track team won the Union City Rotary Relays, besting second place Union City by the score of 148 to 107. 

After trailing early the Lady Cougars closed the first day of competition with a flurry of points. Morgan Mitchell won the 400m and 200m dashes. 

Linda Giffing took first in the 800m run with Maiya Reed placing third. Then Mitchell, Giffing, Reed, and Breonna Connor won the 4X400m relay to close the running events with 100 points and a solid 21 point lead heading into the Friday field events.

Mitchell closed out her scoring with a second place finish in the high jump, while Jada Gilliland and Connor took second and third in the triple jump. 

Senior Noelle Werner closed the medal winning with a bronze place finish in the discus. 

The Lady Cougars have broken six school records (200m dash, 400m dash, 4X400m relay, 4X800m relay, 3 mile distance medley relay, 4 mile distance medley relay) and have qualified in 8 events for the the Sectional Championships at Bartlett on Friday and Saturday.
