On Wednesday night the Munford Lady Cougars made history once again by winning the first Region championship in the program’s history.

A close first half quickly transformed into a Munford runaway against Jackson North Side in the Brighton Gymnasium. The Lady Cougars captured the Region 7-3A Girls Tournament title with a 67-51 victory.

Munford will host the Central Lady Warriors this Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Munford Gymnasium. The Overton Lady Wolverines beat Central 54-51 in the Region 8-3A final. Lady Warrior standout and Baylor signee Nina Davis scored 24 in the losing effort.

Up the road in Brighton, Munford was led by Region MVP Robneisha “Bird” Lee in beating the Lady Indians. Lee received help from teammates like Lauren Zvolanek in improving to 27-5 on the season.
