In less than an hour in the William Osteen Gymnasium, Millington swept Haywood in three sets winning the third 25-2. The victory over the Lady Tomcats improved the Lady Trojans to 7-2 in the district. “We beat Ripley in a close match in five sets by two points on Monday night in Ripley,” Millington Head Coach Jenna Harper said. “That was a really important game to get up two on them now. We’re in second now behind Covington.” Millington’s two league defeats came courtesy of the Lady Chargers. “We should have had the game here against Covington when we loss in five by two on the last set,” Harper said. “It’s very frustrating but the exciting part is we get to play Covington again in the district tournament.” The district tournament will be held next month at Jackson Northside. Harper said her players can’t wait for a rematch with the Lady Chargers. But before the Lady Trojans see Covington again, they will try to finish the regular season strong and continuously improving.

“I don’t know if we’ve quite clicked yet,” Harper acknowledged. “We’re starting, we’re getting there still. If we can do it we will scare a lot of people.”
