Munford students Ryan Coley, third from left back row, and Cara Bruce, fourth from left back row, won the overall championships at the Celebrate Munford 5K. The Munford Lady Cougars won the opening meet of the season, shorthanded with two varsity girls out.
“There are a lot of new boys this season and quite a few didn’t run for various reasons,” Munford Coach Thomas Walters said. “But Ryan, Wade, and Justin are providing stability and leadership for the new guys which showed in the runner up finish. Ed Rice in the Frayser community of Memphis is probably the toughest course we’ll run this year, so we were fairly pleased with our times.”
The next race will be the City Auto Twilight on Sept. 4.
