Star Staff Reports

Lions Clubs International (LCI) was founded in 1917 by Melvin Jones.

Jones was a Chicago businessman who wanted to give back to the community so he recruited other professionals and businessmen to join him to form LCI.

The highest honor a single club can award is the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. Millington Lions Club desired to honor local businessmen who not only worked hard for their community but also supported our local Lions Club to increase the advancement of that community success story.

The Millington Lions Club presented Jones Fellowship awards to both Larry Jackson of Patriot Bank and Stephen Boatwright of Boatwright Pharmacy.

“We delivered trays of cookies for their staff at each location and basketfuls of their favorite treats and drinks to Larry and to Stephen,” Millington Lions President Linda Overstreet noted.

Pictured behind Larry Jackson is Service Chair Colleen Braithwaite and President Linda Overstreet. Standing with Stephen Boatwright is Overstreet. Lions present but not pictured with Stephen are 1st Vice President Vicki Green, Carrie Marcinko, and Sue Anne Cobb.
