The first Annual Military Inspection for Millington Central Middle High School students in two years took place earlier this month.

MCMHS Superintendent James “Bo” Griffin, Deputy Superintendent Mark Neal and Principal Michael Perry were special guests in the William Osteen Gymnasium that April 7 morning for the event.

New Senior Naval Science Instructor Antonio “Maverick” Franklin (CWO4, USN (Ret.) led the  AMI — Senior Naval Science Instructor (SNSI) and Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC).

The MCMHS NJROTC AMI also had other dignitaries in attendance for the inspection of the students.

This inspection is held once a year and involves the majority of our 150-plus cadets.

“This year we had two very special guest inspectors, Commander Merv Dial, NJROTC Area Nine Manager, and Lieutenant Commander Edward Polk, MyNavy Career Center,” Master Chief Diego Reyes said. “As well as other special guests who presented awards to Cadets that have excelled this school year.  Also, our very own school band played a selection or two.”

As part of the AMI, the program showcased the students’ talents with performances from the Drill Team, Color Guard, and a few added surprises.

“The event culminated with a cadet change of command,” Reyes added. “Change of Command of our Unit Commanding Officer – Cadet Commander Bibiana Order was relieved of her duties by our new Commanding Officer –  Cadet Commander Noah Hollingsworth.”
