Man succumbs to wounds, woman left in critical condition from Woodstock incident

A man was shot and killed in the Woodstock area this past weekend. On Saturday morning around 1:45, a man was killed and a woman injured in a shooting in north Shelby County. Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the call at the 4300 block of Benjestown Road in the Woodstock area near Shelby Forest State Park. Shelby County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Earle Farrell said a male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Additional information, a woman was shot in the hand and arm. She managed to make her way to a fire station for help and was taken to Regional One in Downtown Memphis. The man who died at the scene was identified as 40-year-old Johnny Hamlett. The female victim was 42-year-old Cherrie Bynum. She was in critical condition at press time.
