Former Millington Lady Trojan Aisha Adams has been a champion on the college level. Now she is trying to reach her Olympic dream.
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. –Two-time NCAA Division II champion and 2010 field Athlete of the Year hails from Millington Central High School
Adams has joined the Women’s Athletic Performance Foundation (WAPF). Adams moves to Santa Barbara from San Angelo, Texas where she has lived since graduating from Angelo State University with a degree in Sociology in 2011.
Adams has represented the United States on multiple occasions in the women’s heptathlon. A member of the 2010 and 2012 Thorpe Cup teams, Adams was a top ten finisher at the USA Olympic Trials in 2012. Adams has a personal best score of 5,861 points in the heptathlon that she achieved earlier this season en route to her Olympic Trials qualifier.
While at Angelo State University, Adams was a two time NCAA Division II Champion in the heptathlon. She earned the distinction of NCAA Division II female field athlete of the year in 2010. Adams recorded one of the finest national championship performances in NCAA history when she finished 1st in the heptathlon, 2nd in the 400 hurdles, 3rd in the long jump, 4th in the triple jump, 5th in the high jump and 6th in the 100 meter hurdles. Her 36.5 points led Angelo State to the NCAA team title.

She was a part of a tremendous team at Angelo State and we are looking forward to her future here in Santa Barbara.”
Prior to Angelo State, Adams attended Barton County Community College in Great Bend, Kansas where she earned an associates degree in psychology and competed as a member of the track & field team. Adams was a two time NJCAA National Champion in the heptathlon while at Barton County.
“One of the big things that struck me through our interview process was her excitement about WAPF’s holistic mission,” commented Priester. “Aisha grew up in a large family, and she loves working with kids. She will be a great asset and mentor for the Santa Barbara community.”
