Memorial Day Patriotic Remembrance Honors Freedom’s Heroes

The Remembrance was a joint effort between Northridge Woodhaven Community Outreach and the Harry M. Crawford American Legion Post 252 of Millington, TN. The Remembrance took place at the Garden of Honor in the Northridge Woodhaven Cemetery located at 6755 Highway 51 North, Millington, TN 38053. The ceremony, designed to show dedication and appreciation to local veterans and members of the military, began promptly at 10 a.m., with a performance of the National Anthem by local musical group The Wise Men; posting of our Nation’s Colors by members of the Harry M. Crawford American Legion Post 252; Wreath Laying by Dr. Leroy Boatwright and Mr. Bill Younce; and more. The Remembrance featured the Champions of Freedom Presentation. This component of the program highlighted local veterans who served and sacrificed to defend our freedom, honoring the following: Staff Sergeant Ricky DeLaCruz, Sergeant Terry Lemmon, Petty Officer First Class Farris Hodges, Petty Officer First Class James E. Simmons, Petty Officer First Class Elizabeth Mae Hartley, Major Linda C. Arms, Colonel Bonnie J. Robison, and Senior Master Sergeant Myra A. Cross. Refreshments and a time of meet and greet with veterans and members of the military followed. Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home Manager, Will Terry said this, “Our desire was to create a unique and inspiring Memorial Day program for the entire community, to take time to gather to pay tribute to America’s finest men and women who gave their lives in defense of our freedom.”
