On Veteran’s Day, Methodist North Hospital  opened the doors of their newly expanded lobby. Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare leaders and North Shelby County community leaders and community members came together for a short program and consecration before cutting the ribbon and opening the new lobby to the public. The Methodist North Hospital lobby grand opening was the culmination of a $1.8 million construction project that began in January 2015. The new lobby boasts 4,300 square feet. A new information and admissions desk, new upgraded bathrooms, a gift shop and administrative offices. The outdoor space of the hospital has also been updated with sustainable green space and a new pick-up and drop-off area to improve entryway traffic. “We are so proud of our new lobby at Methodist North,” said Methodist North CEO, Gyasi Chisley. “The new lobby, like our other campus updates, is allowing us more space to accommodate the countless patients and families who come through our doors each year. We are so delighted to continue improvements like these to keep the Raleigh-Frayser community healthy.” The lobby expansion is part of Methodist North Hospital’s plans to update and expand the entire hospital campus. Past projects included renovating four floors of patient rooms and nurses stations, emergency department expansion and most recently, updating the radiology department which was recognized in September for becoming the first Mid-South hospital with a 100% digital radiology department. Immediately following the ribbon cutting and consecration, there will be an art unveiling for the new lobby mural painted by the Lynn Twins, Jerry and Terry Lynn. Methodist North nurses will also unveil and present their new Methodist North Associate Commitment Statement which will be displayed in the new lobby.
