MHEA use two big runs to beat Rebels

Jason Morgan and his Tipton-Rosemark Academy Rebels hosted the 2012 TRA Turkey Shootout last week. On day two, Nov. 20, the Rebels played the final game of the day against the MHEA Eagles.

And the home-schooled team used two big runs to leave the TRA Gymnasium with a 84-61 victory. The Rebels were close in the first quarter with Logan Stewart and Matt Moody scoring in the paint. TRA only trailed 14-8 at that point.

MHEA took a 19-12 lead into the second quarter. After Moody scored on a put-back to make the score 20-14, MHEA proceeded with a 21-8 run to make the score 41-22 with 2 minutes and 20 seconds remaining in the half. The Eagles were ahead 43-26 at the break.

Moody tried to give his team a boost  in the third quarter with a three-point play and rebound leading to a put-back. The Rebels were behind 48-33 when MHEA went on a 9-4 run to make its lead 20 points.

The Eagles were ahead 19 points heading into the fourth quarter. Moody put on a show during the final mintues of the game that pleased the student session.

Closing out the game Moody had a powerful two-hand slam and a pair of layups. But MHEA was comfortably in front and won the contest by 23 points.
