Munford’s Lloyd wins Lions Club poster contest

Katherine Bolkcom, art instructor at Munford Middle joined Linda Overstreet, president of Millington Lions Club, and Melissa Lloyd, Munford Middle student for a presentation by the Lions Club. Kenneth and Kunthea Lloyd, parents of Melissa Lloyd, and Lonnie Glass, seventh grade principal at Munford Middle was also present. Lloyd, was presented with a $50 prize check back in November from the Millington Lions Club for a Peace Poster Contest with the theme ‘Kindness Matters.’ The club sponsored this contest to give children the chance to express their visions of peace and inspire the world through art and creativity. 

The Millington Club provides sight and hearing services in Millington, Southwest Tipton County, and Frayser in Memphis. The services includes hearing aids and glasses as well as eye procedures such as cataract surgery and prosthetic eyes. The club holds two fundraisers a year: a pancake breakfast at the Goat Days Festival and pecan sales in November and December.
