The Millington Trojans traveled to Landers Field on the campus of Houston Middle School for a tough test against the perennial powerhouse Houston Mustangs.
The challenge for Trojans Head Coach Jerrett Everson’s squad lived up to the hype, with Houston prevailing 5-0. While Millington took a tough defeat, the Trojans got a chance to face top-level talent, work on new defenses and see a solid performance from goalie Hollis Chalker. Chalker prevented the Mustangs from obtaining a mercy-rule victory with multiple athletic saves.
Houston led 1-0 at the break courtesy of a Jacob Morris penalty kick goal. Then the Mustangs tallied four goals in the final 40 minutes coming mostly from corner kicks. Morris tallied the final goal of the night. Between Morris’ goals, Mustangs Seth Gatlin, Jack Chow and Adam Dunn connected on goals.
