The Munford Lady Cougars welcomed the nationally ranked MHEA Lady Eagles back to the Munford Gymnasium Jan. 20 for a rematch. In the season opener, the Lady Cougars jumped out to a 20-point lead before the Lady Eagles fought back to win. In the rematch, the score was 49-29 in favor of MHEA. Could the Lady Cougars return the favor? Not quite, as the Lady Eagles prevailed 65-43. Munford Head Coach Steve Poindexter said his team’s effort was lacking from the tip off until the final horn. MHEA jumped ahead 18-7 after the first quarter. And the Lady Eagles continued to hit three-pointer and drive in the lane for baskets to build a 34-19 halftime advantage. The MHEA lead finally grew to 20 points in the second half and the Lady Eagles held on to that advantage until the final second.
