It is with profound sorrow that the City of Millington shares the passing of Alderman Michael “Mike” Caruthers. Alderman Caruthers was a devoted public servant whose many years of service to our community and our country will long be remembered.
Alderman Caruthers faithfully represented his community on the Millington Board of Mayor and Aldermen, elected five times and serving for nearly two decades. His tenure on the Board reflected a steadfast commitment to the people of Millington, always working to improve our community, protect taxpayer dollars, and ensure that every voice was heard. Throughout his service, he earned the respect and gratitude of colleagues, constituents, and city staff alike.
Mike’s commitment to Millington went well beyond the Board. He was a longtime Planning Commissioner, a member of the Millington Housing Authority, a proud Kiwanis Club member, and served on the board of the Millington Crisis Center, among other local causes. In each of these roles he sought to strengthen Millington and support its people.
Beyond his civic contributions, Alderman Caruthers was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He carried the values of service, discipline, and integrity into every aspect of his life and leadership. To many, he’ll be remembered as Lieutenant Colonel Caruthers.
The City of Millington extends heartfelt condolences to Alderman Caruthers’ family and friends during this difficult time. We mourn the loss of a leader, a veteran, and a neighbor. His contributions to Millington will not be forgotten.
