Star Staff Reports

On Tuesday, there was a discovery of a break-in at the Millington Crisis Center.

The second break-in in the last few months with this one leaving significant damage. Millington Crisis Center coordinates assistance to those in need through donations and community resources.

Founded in 1987, MCC continues to prevail despite hurdles and setbacks that most would consider insurmountable.

“I am devastated by this,” MCC Director Lois Wilber said. “Why do people steal from someplace that provides free assistance and help? This break-in, the loss, the damage is going to be difficult to overcome, but we will continue to be here for our community and the people who need us.”

MCC needs your help. Donations are always welcome, but the need is different right now. The front door was kicked in and the frame was damaged. Security equipment and monitoring is needed. Reliable volunteers are always welcome. Replacing the items taken (diapers, wipes, formula will also be a need within the coming weeks.
