NEWS ALERT- Tipton County Schools loses iconic figure Chic Nute

Tipton County education icon and TSSAA 2014 Hall of Fame inductee Chic Nute passed away yesterday in Jackson after a short illness.

Involved in Tipton County Schools for decades, Nute continued to be a presence at TCS sporting events as a supporter of Brighton, Covington and Munford high schools as countywide Athletic Director in Tipton County, as well as the Assistant Transportation Supervisor.

With countless achievements and accomplishments, Nute earned a spot in the TSSAA Hall of Fame being involved in education for 40 years. He served as the Athletic Director at Kingsbury, Calloway County, and Munford high schools for 17 years. Then Nute was the Athletic Director and Assistant Principal at Munford Middle School for four years, and at Brighton High School for 15 years.

Nute’s visitation will be held Jan. 14 at the Covington Funeral Home from 5 to 7:30 p.m. And the funeral service will be Jan. 15 with graveside services at Memorial Park on Poplar Avenue in Memphis.

Other roles Nute served in where District Coordinator for the Tennessee Middle School Athletic Association (TMSAA) for 12 years and as a TSSAA District and Region Tournament Director for more than 20 years.
