NEWS UPDATE: Former MPD Chief Dingman passes away

Former Millington Police Tony Dingman passed away Saturday.

Anthony T. “Tony” Dingman, 80, was a resident of Millington since 1947. Dingman graduated from Millington Central in 1955, attended Memphis State, served in the US Air Force, was Chief of Police for Millington for 17 years, past President of the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police, with the Millington Police Department for 27 years, Millington Telephone Company for 25 years, a 1980 Graduate of 123rd Session of the FBI Academy, and instrumental in forming the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police.

He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, and MSU (Go Tigers!) He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Jo Dingman; children, Anthony Jr. and wife, Cathleen, Jonathan Dingman, Donna Crook; five grandchildren, Blake, Sophia, Gabrielle, Cody, Kayla.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 14 at Crosspointe Baptist Church from 11 a.m. until the service at 2 p.m. Interment to follow in Big Creek Cemetery.
