Dana Payne, 15, of Memphis died Aug. 21, 2012. Funeral service was held on Tuesday, Aug. 28 at First Baptist Church, 5010 West Union Road,  in Millington and burial was in Northridge Woodhaven Cemetery. He is survived by his parents, Tameka Smith and Carlos Payne, one sister and two brothers, his grandparents, Diana Smith, Jacqueline Payne, Jeffery Pope and Victor Payne Millington Funeral Home had charge.

MARY LOU WATKINS

Mary Lou Watkins, 90, of Millington, widow of Bill Watkins, retired secretary from Shelby County Schools, passed away Tuesday, August 21 at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Mary Lou enjoyed her role as wife, for 61 years, and Navy wife, for 30 years, to her “beloved Bill”; her role as secretary at Millington South Elementary School for 20 years, where she also served as PTA President; and her role in the Order of the Eastern Star Millington Chapter No. 385 as Secretary, Grand Representative, Grand Instructor, Grand Committee Member, Worthy Matron and Past President of Past Matrons Association. She was also a member of the Lion’s Club and First Baptist Church-Millington. Most of all she enjoyed her role as mother to four daughters: Pama Watkins Rue (Ed) of Carrollton, Texas, Danielle Watkins Raines (widow of Rick) of Dallas, Tanya Watkins Mabry (Pat) of Bartlett, Heidi Watkins Damron of Little Rock, Ark.; grandmother to seven grandchildren: Rachel Raines Bowers (Clint), Jennifer Raines, William Mabry (Claudia), Katie Mabry (Jason Walker), Caroline Damron, Joseph Damron, Daniel Damron; great-grandmother to three: Grant and Caiden Bowers and Mary Frances Mabry; and grandmother to seven grand-dogs and one grand-cat. She is also survived by several beloved nieces and nephews. During her lifetime with Bill, they loved square dancing and bowling and were blessed to travel to various states and countries. Mary Lou enjoyed decorating cakes, especially doll cakes for each of her girls. She recently celebrated her 90th birthday in May surrounded by her family and friends and received a personalized doll cake highlighting her various adventures. Funeral service was held at Munford Funeral Home Millington Chapel. Burial was in Northridge Woodhaven Cemetery in Millington.  The family requests that memorials be sent to the Eastern Star Millington Chapter No. 385 Christian Scholarship Fund or the EA Harrold Elementary School Library.
