JERRY WAYNE ALBERSON
Jerry Wayne Alberson, 75, passed away on January 12, 2026. The family received friends on January 14, 2026, until the service time at Munford Funeral Home – Munford Chapel with the interment at Helen Crigger Cemetery in Munford. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Larkey and Helen Alberson; and one brother, Tommy Alberson. He is survived by his two daughters, Alicia Alberson and Heather Marshall; one sister, Linda Dotson; a brother, Michael Alberson, and four grandchildren, Madi Sims, Landon Seward, Kaylyn Wolf, and Kylie Wolf. Jerry was a man of dedication, passion, and service. He proudly served in the United States Army, an experience that shaped his strong sense of discipline and commitment throughout his life. He had a lifelong love for baseball, enjoying both the game itself and the camaraderie it brought. Another great passion of Jerry’s was race cars—the sound of engines, the thrill of the track, and the excitement of competition brought him genuine joy. Jerry will be remembered for his steadfast spirit, his enthusiasm for the things he loved, and the impact he made on those around him. His legacy lives on in the memories of family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
ROBERT KENNETH FURCHES
Robert Kenneth Furches, 71, passed away on January 14, 2026. Mr. Furches was a truck driver and a U.S. Navy veteran. He is survived by his daughters, Brandy Huffer of Millington, and Angel Sullivan Campbell of Dothan, Ala.; a sister, Jean Jones of Dothan, Ala.; a brother, Ralph Furches of Asheville, N.C.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. The family received friends on Jan. 20 until the service at Millington Chapel. Interment was private.
KEVIN THORPE
Kevin Thorpe, 53, of Brighton, passed away on January 13, 2026. Cremation services are under the direction of Covington Funeral Home. Memorial services will be announced at a later time.
DARYL LEE WATSON
Daryl Lee Watson, 85, of Drummonds, passed away on January 9, 2026. Born on August 20, 1940, in Springboro, Pennsylvania, Daryl was the son of Donald and Virginia Watson, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his siblings Baby Watson, Charles Fay Watson and Joyce Hook (husband Archie). He is survived by his sister Dolores Ankers. In 1966, Daryl married the love of his life, Ruth M. Watson, and together they shared 54 years of marriage until her passing in 2020. Their life together was filled with devotion, hard work, and a deep commitment to family. They raised four children: Tina Michelle Bing, Kimberly Darlene Click (deceased), Daryl Lee Watson, Jr. (wife Shelly), and Melinda Sue Norris (husband Shane). Daryl was also a proud stepfather to Lisa Buck and Gary Dunworth (wife Linda). Daryl’s legacy extends through a large and loving family, including 22 grandchildren and 37 great‑grandchildren each of whom brought him immense joy. A faithful and giving member of First Baptist Church of Atoka, Daryl lived out his beliefs through service, kindness, and generosity. He worked for the City of Memphis as a heavy equipment operator and mechanic, a career marked by dedication and skill, before retiring. Daryl was a man who loved to work with his hands. Whether fixing or building something, tending his garden, or helping someone in need, he found purpose in creating and caring. He cherished time spent with his family and had a lifelong love of reading nonfiction—especially Christian biographies and autobiographies that deepened his faith and curiosity. Daryl leaves behind a hole that cannot be filled until we join him at our Savior’s side. He will be remembered for his steady presence, his willingness to help anyone, and the love he poured into his family across generations. His life was a testament to faith, perseverance, and the quiet strength of a man who lived fully and gave generously. Funeral services were held on Jan. 16 at Munford Funeral Home. Internment was at Northridge Woodhaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to First Baptist Church of Atoka.
