JEAN E. BENDORF

Jean E. Bendorf, 80, of Millington, got her wings and passed away on January 9, 2022 at the Millington Healthcare Center in Millington. Her body will be cremated and a celebration of life will be planned for a later time.  

RITA CALDWELL

Rita Caldwell, 64, passed away January 15, 2022. The family received friends Jan. 28 until the memorial service at the Munford Chapel. Munford Funeral Home Munford Chapel had charge.

ZACHARY LEE DAVIS

Zachary Lee Davis, 59, of Millington, passed away on January 14, 2022 at Methodist Hospital – North in Memphis. There was a walk-through visitation for Mr. Davis on Jan. 22 with a memorial service at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Millington. Interment followed at the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. Jefferson Mortuary, Inc. had charge.

MICHAEL FITZ

Michael Fitz, 44, of Millington passed away January 13, 2022. Funeral service was held Jan. 22 at the Millington Funeral Home in Millington. Interment was held at Union Hill Church Cemetery in Munford. Millington Funeral Home had charge.

NADINE KELLUM

Nadine Kellum, 87, of Burlison, passed away on January 18, 2022 at her home.  Graveside services were held at Jan. 23 at the Shiloh Cemetery. Covington Funeral Home had charge.

CLARA LEWIS

Clara Lewis, 81, of Millington, passed away on January 12, 2022 at St. Francis Hospital – Bartlett in Bartlett. There was a walk through visitation for Ms. Lewis on Jan. 22 with a memorial service at Hammond Grove Baptist Church in Arlington. Interment followed at the Hammond Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Jefferson Mortuary, Inc. had charge.

GEORGE ALLEN ‘AL’ McCLAIN

George Allen “Al” McClain, 78, of Brighton, passed away January 12, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. Visitation was held Jan. 19 at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home, in Millington until the time of the service with Reverend Rob McDaniel of Faith Assembly of God officiating.  Burial followed at Northridge Woodhaven Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Faith Assembly of God, 9540 Highway 51 North, Millington, TN 38053 in Al’s memory.

DAVID LISTER

David Lister, age 91, passed away January 18, 2022. He is survived by his son, David Lister Jr. and his daughter, Linda Lister; also, his elder sister Nadelle Smith of Houston, Texas.  He has one grandson, David Danehower and three great grandchildren, Axel, Tristen and Ariana. David a veteran of the U.S. Navy having joined the Navy the day he turned 17, on July 18, 1947. He served in Korea piloting landing craft at Inchon. While he did not like to talk about the war, he knew it was his duty. Later, he would do two tours in Vietnam aboard the USS Hornet as Chief weapons officer. He retired after 27 years of active duty at the rank of CWO3. He loved God and he loved the United States, the country he served honorably. In his closing days, he mourned the loss of the freedoms this country is facing and he had hope for America and its people that they would stand up for those freedoms before they are completely taken away. He will be buried at the West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill-Irene Road, Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee, 38125 USA. The ceremony is at 10 a.m. on Jan. 28. He will be buried with his wife Jean E Lister, his wife of 67 years. He mourned her for three years and asked his son to move the family back to the great state of Tennessee where he was born, and which he loved. He asked for no flowers to be sent but if someone would like to honor him, they can send a donation to feed children that live at a garbage dump near Subic Bay, in Olongapo Philippines, which he visited when he was in the Navy. BRENDA JOYCE PETTY

Brenda Joyce Petty, 77, of Millington, passed away January 13, 2022, at Methodist North Hospital. The family received friends Jan. 18 at the Munford Chapel until the service. Interment followed in Helen Crigger Cemetery. Munford Funeral Home Munford Chapel had charge.

FREDERICK DEWEY SEXTON

Frederick Dewey Sexton, 80, resident of Millington, died January 15, 2022 at St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett, after an extended illness. Visitation was held on Jan. 20 at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home in Millington until the time of the service.  Burial was private at Forest Hill Memorial Park Midtown. EVERLY ANN REED  SHERRILL

Beverly Ann Reed Sherrill went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on January 17, 2022. A private graveside service was held. Munford Funeral Home Munford Chapel had charge.

RL SHORT

RL Short, 85, passed away January 16, 2022. The family received friends Jan. 22 until the service all at the Millington Chapel. Interment followed in Big Creek Cemetery. The family asks any memorials be made to Bolton Full Gospel Church. Munford Funeral Home Millington Chapel had charge.

JIM SOLBERG

Jim Solberg, 82, of Munford, passed away on January 17k, 2022 at his home.  Mr. Solberg was a retired jet mechanic with the U.S. Navy having served in Vietnam.  He retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer and an Instructor Supervisor.  Jim loved restoring old cars.He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Avis Shelton Solberg; one son, James Solberg, Jr. of Munford; one granddaughter, Amanda (Chris) Rains and three great grandchildren, Lyra Cottingham, Maggie Rains and Nora Rains. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Terri Renee’ Solberg. Cremation services are under the direction of Covington Funeral Home with no services planned at this time.

GORDON STONE

Gordon Stone, Jr., 78, of Munford, passed away in his sleep January 18, 2022. Gordon was a retired educator at Covington Elementary School. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Alzheimers Association at Act.alx.org/site/donation2df_id=4 or to FUMC food pantry. Funeral services were held at Jan. 22 at the Covington Funeral home.  The family received friends one hour prior to the service. Covington Funeral Home had charge.
