EMMANUEL V. GUEVARRA

Emmanuel V. Guevarra, 56, passed away December 25, 2022. He was retired from the U.S. Navy and was a marketplace analyst for NPC Millington. A funeral Mass was held Dec. 31 at St. William Catholic Church in Millington followed by a visitation at the Munford Funeral Home Millington Chapel. The U.S. Navy bestowed military funeral honors. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Guevarra; daughter, Reiamari Guevarra; sons, Erwin Guevarra of Millington, and Elijah Guevarra and Eian Guevarra both of Memphis; mother, Teresita Guevarra; sisters, Marites and Leah of the Philippines; and a brother, Allan of the Philippines. Munford Funeral Home Millington Chapel. Had charge. 

JAMES GOFORTH

James Goforth, 81, of Holladay, formerly of Brighton, passed away on December 26, 2022.  Cremation services are under the direction of Covington Funeral Home.  There will be a graveside service held at a later date, and Mr. Goforth will be laid to rest beside his wife Janice, in Eagle Creek Cemetery in Holladay.

MARTHA JEAN RHODES GOULDER

Martha Jean Rhodes Goulder, of Burlison, passed away on December 25, 2022 after an extended illness. The funeral was held Dec. 30 at Maley Yarbrough Funeral Home. Burial followed the service at Covington Memorial Gardens. 

THOMAS OWEN HAYES

Thomas Owen Hayes, 90, of Brighton, passed away on December 21, 2022.  A visitation was held at Maley Yarbrough Funeral Home on his birthday, Dec. 27 with a service. The committal service followed at Morrison Cemetery.

RUTH ROE KELLEY

Ruth Roe Kelley, 99, of Burlison, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2022 at her home.  Mrs. Kelley was married to the late Bill Kelley for 61 years. She was a bank teller at First State Bank for many years before retiring from Regions Bank. Services were held at Maley-Yarbrough Funeral Home Chapel on Dec. 28, with a graveside service at Shiloh Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be sent to the Shiloh Cemetery Fund, 1757 Garland Drive Covington, Tn. 38019.

BETTY SUE KIGHT

Betty Sue Kight, 77, of Drummonds, passed away on December 27, 2022. Funeral services for Mrs. Betty were held on Dec. 31, at 11 a.m. at Covington Funeral Home, with interment in Poplar Grove Cemetery in Drummonds. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations of meals or love offerings be made to Mr. Ray, to help ease the stress and heartache of Mrs. Betty’s passing.

LEONARD NASON

Leonard Nason, 86, of Brighton, passed away on December 29 at his home. Mr. Nason owned and operated Nason Sheet Metal for over 30 years, a member of the Covington Evangelical Church and a U.S. Army Veteran. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Faye Cullum Nason; two sons, Jonathan (Angie) Nason and Jeffery (Megumi) Nason, both of Covington; two sisters, Mary Finch of Lebanon,  and Diane Dunlap of Ripley; two brothers, Willard “Sambo” (Judy) Nason and Samuel “Skipper” Nason, both of Burlison and five grandchildren, Ellie Nason (Isaac) Spitler, Anna Nason, Amy Nason, Elijah Nason and Kate Nason.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Beatrice Nason; three sisters, Joyce Smith, Judie Whiteacre and Gloria Dryer and three brothers, Bernard Nason, Ronald Nason and Phil Nason.Funeral Services were held January 3, 2023 at the Covington Funeral Home chapel with interment to follow in Covington Memorial Gardens. The family received friends two hours prior to the service at the Covington Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Covington Evangelical Church or The Gideons International. 

FREIDA LOUISE BUFORD PAINE

Freida Louise Buford Paine, 75, of Munford, passed away on December 16, 2022, peacefully surrounded by family. She courageously battled small cell carcinoma for eight months before her passing. Services were held at Munford Funeral Home – Munford Chapel on Dec. 21 until the memorial service.

VONDA JOYCE STANKEY

Vonda Joyce Stankey, 77, of Drummonds,  passed away on December 26, 2022.  A funeral service was held Dec. 30 at Maley – Yarbrough Funeral Home. The committal was held at Covington Memorial Gardens after the service.

NORMA JUNE TURNER

Norma June Turner, 88, passed away on December 22, 2022.  She served on the Board of Directors for Southwest Electric.  Norma was a beloved member of Covington ARP Church.  She was a substitute teacher in Tipton County and a member of the Book and Garden Club.  The visitation took place on Dec. 29, with graveside services at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.  The family asks that all memorials be made to Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church.
