THOMAS M. KEARNEY
Thomas M. Kearney, 77, formerly of Absecon, New Jersey, passed away July 3, 2020 in Methodist North Hospital. He is survived by his wife JO Ann Kearney, three sons, Thomas Jr., Sean and Richard Kearney of area and one daughter Erin Russell of Murfreesboro; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He lived in Millington for 37 years. There will be a memorial service at a later date.

JAMES LEACH
James Leach, 74, a Vietnam veteran and a former resident of Millington, passed away on July 14, 2020 in Memphis. James is survived by his wife, Carolyn Leach; two children, Ashley and Al Leach; grandchildren, Taylor Cohen, AJ Leach and Ellie Suggs; brothers, Billy Joe Leach and Gerald Leach; sister, Betty Boleware. James was born on August 10, 1945 to James and Ruby Leach in Conhatta, Miss. On February 10, 1966 he joined the United States Navy and then went on to serve three tours in Vietnam. On July 21, 1979 he married Carolyn Wallace and was stationed in Norfolk before being stationed in Millington, his forever home. Carolyn and James then had their first born, Al Leach on May 15, 1980 and Ashley Leach was born February 26, 1982. James was a devoted father and grandfather. He was an extremely hardworking man, and almost everyone who knew him looked up to him, and highly respected him. Those same people would also describe him as insanely stubborn. He enjoyed working on his farm taking care of the garden and his animals. In fact, it is what he did sun up to sun down everyday. When he wasn’t able to be outside, he enjoyed watching old western movies. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family. James will be deeply missed by family, friends and everyone who knew him. The family received friends July 20 at the Millington Chapel until the memorial service.

LOUISE FRANCES LEADY
Louise Frances Leady, 84, of Millington, passed away July 12, 2020 from a short illness. Baby Ida Louise Frances Pennock was born July 15, 1935 in Coats, Kansas, the daughter of the late Earl Robert and Luella Crete Pennock. Louise was happily married to the late Larmer “Bud” Leady in 1955 at Langton Christian Church in Kansas.  Bud died in 2017 with his loving wife by his side. Louise went to nurses training in 1952, starting her career at Fort Scott, Kansas and then went on to St. Elizabeth hospital in Hutchinson and, in 1955, took her state boards to receive an RN-C diploma.  After Bud retired from the Navy, they traveled the United States together with a goal of visiting as many state capitals as they could. Louise was a member of the NAS Memphis Chapel where she felt very at home with the parishioners whom she considered her second family. She was predeceased by her parents, Earl Robert Pennock and Luebela Crete Braden Pennock; sister Tenitia Earlene Combs; brother Robert William Pennock; sister Iris Elizabeth Gabehart; brothers Jack Weasley Pennock, Thomas Jefferson Pennock, and Clair Allen Pennock.  Louise is survived by her three daughters, Gail and husband Bernie Roever of Pensacola, Florida; Pam and husband Larry Tondreau of Freeport, Maine; Diane Leady of Millington, Tennessee; six grandchildren Anna Willhite, Leah Welch, Jennifer Timmons, Michelle Biddlecom, David Roever, Bryan Roever; eight great grandchildren (Megan Willhite-Hale, Colton Willhite, Austin Willhite, Adelynn Welch, Nicholas Welch, Ursula Roever, Emily Biddlecom, and Lily Biddlecom. Memorial and burial services will be held at a later date.

BETTY OVERSTREET
Betty Overstreet, 80, passed away July 12, 2020. She was a member of First Baptist Church and worked for Shelby County Board of Education as the Attendance Secretary at Millington Central High School. Visitation and services were held at Millington Chapel in Millington July 18. Munford Funeral Home had charge.

WILLIAM ‘BILL’ RAMBERG
Maj. William “Bill” Ramberg, USMC ret., 78, of Millington, passed away July 18, 2020. He was a member of the VFW, MOAA, USO, Marine Corps Heritage Foundation and the American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca M. Ramberg; daughter, Cheryle Hanks of Jacksonville, N.C.; sons, David Ramberg of San Antonio, Texas, Mathew Ramberg of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Christopher Ramberg of Columbus, Miss.; sister, Glenda Hugues of Tampa, Fla.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson. Interment was in Arlington National Cemetery.

JAMES LOUIS SNEED
James Louis Sneed, 83, of Drummonds, passed away July 16, 2020 at Baptist Memorial Hospital Covington. There was a walk through viewing on July 20 at Jefferson Mortuary, Inc., in Millington, with a graveside service July 21 at Restland Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Drummonds. Jefferson Mortuary, Inc. had charge.

ROGER KEITH SUTHERLAND
Roger Keith Sutherland, Sr. was born on August 19, 1960 in Memphis, at St Joseph Hospital. He weighed a hefty 10lbs and 6 oz, making him the largest baby of eight children born to Louis Henry Sutherland II (deceased) and Clare Mae Bates Sutherland. He leaves behind his siblings; Sandra Ann Sutherland Wilburn, Louis Henry Sutherland III, Frank Allen Sutherland, Linda Carol Sutherland Crider, Kathy Dale Sutherland Wright, Mary Beth Sutherland Jones, and John Mark Sutherland (deceased). Roger was raised and educated in Millington, Tennessee and graduated from Millington Central High School in 1978. He was actively involved in school where he served as Student Council President and was a member of the Key Club, the Pep Club, Thespians and VICA just to name a few. He was voted as Who’s Who Most School Spirited and was selected to be a member of the Hall of Fame his senior year. Roger was raised Southern Baptist and attended Oaklawn Baptist Church from birth till early 1979. That Spring he met Shelia Renee Rodgers and married her on November 2, 1979 at First United Pentecostal Church in Millington Tennessee. Roger worked in management most of his younger years at Kroger Grocery Stores. His heart was in sales and followed that career path to Ripley Tennessee in 1987, where he was the branch manager for Jim Walter Homes. His impeccable work ethics and top sales achievements then moved him to Meridian, Mississippi where he became the District Manager in 1989. Roger was eventually promoted to Regional Management and moved to Tulsa, Okla. in 1998. Roger and Shelia were the proud parents of four beautiful children: Chasity Renee Sutherland Frazier, Michele Renee Sutherland Burger, Heather Dawn Sutherland Steptoe, and Roger Keith Sutherland, Jr. After 26 years of marriage Roger and Shelia divorced in May of 2006. Roger reconnected with his longtime friend and married, Sarah Elizabeth Fogelman of Owensville, MO on April 2, 2009. Roger and Beth divorced in 2019. Roger enjoyed many activities with family: boating, camping, fishing, metal detecting, grilling, woodworking, singing, playing the piano and watching his favorite gospel music singers Vestal Goodman and Bill Gaither to name a few. Roger passed from this life on July 2, 2020 in the comfort of his own home. Roger is survived by his four children – Chasity Renee Sutherland Frazier, Michele Renee Sutherland Burger and spouse Michael Stephen Burger, Heather Dawn Sutherland Steptoe and spouse Sherman Ray Steptoe, Roger Keith Sutherland, Jr. and spouse Wasfiah Candice Sutherland. Roger is survived by his 10 Grandchildren: Addison Hope Frazier, Jude Loren Frazier, Katelyn Paige Burger, Madelyn Claire Burger, Emma Isabella Burger, Sherman Ray Steptoe II, Zion Rayshawn Steptoe, Peighton Rilee Sutherland Steptoe, Serenity Ella Steptoe, Vivian Sutherland.

GERALDINE ‘JERRY’ TROBAUGH
Mrs. Geraldine ‘Jerry’ Trobaugh, 89, of Munford, departed this life on July 10, 2020 after her work here was done. She led a life of example, hard work, and true love for the Church, her Community and the Nation. She was awarded the Department of the Navy Superior Civilian Service Award for her 33 years of outstanding and superior Service, to include duties as the Programming Section Head of the Staff of the Chief of Naval Technical Training. Upon her retirement from civilian service, G.M. Furlong, Jr., Rear Admiral of the U.S. Navy noted that “her untiring effort, dedication, and matchless proficiency while carrying out her duties are legend” and contributed significantly to the success of the mission. She was an active member of the Munford Planning Commission for 30 years, and a fixture at the Munford United Methodist Church for many years. She was a steadfast contributor to many charities which showed her dedication to nature, children, and civil servants. She is remembered as a friend, mentor, advisor, mother, grandmother, and lover of a good-time. She was a true matriarch and keeper of her family, and she is proud of us. She was preceded in death by Mr. James Coen Trobaugh, her husband of nearly 50 years. She lived for and is survived by her brother, Mr. Tony Gross and his wife Mrs. Daisy Marie Gross; faithful daughter Louise Trobaugh Moren and her husband John Beckham Moren; devoted son James (Jimmy, J.T.) Morris Trobaugh of Munford, Tennessee; three loving grandchildren, Andrea Louise Carpenter-Crowther and her husband Christopher Crowther, Jacob Coen (J.C) Trobaugh, and Joshua Nolan Moren and his wife Brooklyne Warren Moren. She was overjoyed that her family continued to grow with the addition four great grandchildren, Willoe Grace Carpenter-Wilson, Gracie-Kate Erwin, Ricochet Lijiahlee Crowther, and Emma Jade Moren. In addition, she loved and was loved by a host of extended family, friends, colleagues, and acquaintances. Visitation for Mrs. Trobaugh were held July 14 at the Munford United Methodist Church with a service following. Interment was at Helen Crigger Cemetery in Munford.
