RUSS & KARIN RIDLEY
Russ and Karin Ridley, owners of Millington Awards & Trophies, passed away this week. Russ was retired from the U.S. Navy and Karin was a longtime manager for H&R Block Tax Services in Millington and Frayser. More importantly they were friends to everyone they met and they loved the Millington community. The family will receive friends at a catered reception Saturday (May 31) from 10 a.m. until the service at 11 at the Munford Funeral Home Millington Chapel. The family asks any memorials be made to the Navy Relief Society.

LURA M. SMITH

Lura M. Smith

, 90, of Millington, made her trip to heaven on May 23, 2014.  She was born in Walnut Mississippi, the ninth of ten siblings on Oct. 4, 1923 to Allen and Florence Wood. She was a longtime resident of Memphis, and had lived in Horn Lake, Tipplersville, Byhalia and Walnut, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her husband Lester E Smith, brothers, sisters and parents and is survived by her son, Kenneth Allen Smith of Holly Springs, Miss., and daughter, Nancy Hubanks of Savannah, four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; a multitude of nieces and nephews; and many other loving family members and friends. Funeral services were held May 31 at the Holly Springs Funeral Home, 1160 Hwy 311, in Holly Springs.  Internment will take place at the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on Thursday, June 5 at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Salvation Army.

SAMUEL H. TIMBS
Samuel H. Timbs, 49, of Millington, a kitchen repair specialist for Shelby County Schools passed away May 29, 2014 at Methodist North Hospital. Service was held June 3 at Munford Funeral Home Millington Chapel. Interment took place at West Union Cemetery. Munford Funeral Home Millington Chapel had charge. He leaves behind only child Katie Timbs, his “Shorty Girl” and his beloved wife of 25 years Melanie Timbs, a love that lasted forever and always. He also leaves his sister Nell Cotner and brother Randy Timbs, a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents James “Pop” and Jean Ervin Timbs and one sister Laura Eslinger. Memorial contributions to American Heart Association. Brentwoodfuneralservices.com
