JERRY A. BOUWMAN 

Jerry A. Bouwman, 61, of Drummonds, passed away October 29, 2021. There was a graveside service at Nov. 1 in Poplar Grove Cemetery. Munford Funeral Home Munford Chapel had charge. 

SHIRLEY A. BROWN

Mrs. Shirley A. Brown, , of Drummonds, passed away on October 22, 2021 at Baptist Memorial Hospital East in Memphis. There was a visitation for Mrs. Brown on Oct. 30with a memorial service at Jefferson Mortuary, Inc., 7788 Church Street,in Millington.Interment took place at Oakwood Cemetery, Telluah, La., on Oct. 31. Jefferson Mortuary, Inc. had charge.

JoANNE CAMPBELL

JoAnne Campbell, 64, of Burlison, passed away October 29, 2021, at her home. The family received friends Nov. 3, at the Munford Chapel until the service. Interment followed in Rogers Cemetery. Munford Funeral Home Munford Chapel had charge. 

MARY ELLEN GILLESPIE

Mary Ellen Gillespie, 87, passed away in her home in Millington, on October 29, 2021. The family received friends Nov. 4, at the Munford Chapel. Munford Funeral Home Munford Chapel had charge. 

LULA SUE HAYES

Lula Sue Hayes, 92, of Millington, passed away on November 1, 2021. Visitation was held Nov. 5 at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home until the funeral service. Interment followed in Northridge Woodhaven Cemetery.

MICHELLE HILL HUNTER

Michelle Hill Hunter, 54, of Burlison, passed away October 26, 2021, at Methodist Germantown Hospital. The family received friends Oct. 31, at Munford Funeral Home-Munford Chapel until the service. Interment followed in Ravenscroft Cemetery. Memorials can be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Munford Funeral Home Munford Chapel had charge.

Dr. Gary Kropf

GARY KROPF

Dr. Gary Kropf, 74, passed away November 1, 2021. He was born in Paragould, Ark., and raised in Kennett, Mo.,where he attended Kennett High School. He completed his undergraduate degree at Memphis State University and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the College of Dentistry at the University of Tennessee in 1972. He has been actively involved in the local dental community for nearly 50 years. Dr. Kropf is survived by wife and best friend, Shan Kropf of Millington,  whom he proposed to after only two weeks of dating and was happily married for 46 years; son, Justin (Caroline) Kropf Columbia; grandsons, Harrison and Andrew Kropf Columbia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Myra and Leon Krapf. Dr. Kropf was a member of The Gideons International for 31 years, was a Children’s Sunday School teacher for 40 years, and was ordained as a deacon at First Baptist Church Millington. He loved serving at his churches including First Baptist Church and Bellevue Baptist Church. The family received friends Nov. 4 with a service Nov. 5, all at the Millington Chapel. Interment followed in Memorial Gardens in Bartlett. The family asks memorial contributions be made to The Gideons International. Munford Funeral Home Millington Chapel had charge. 

JOHN D. LEWIS 

John D. Lewis, 74, passed away at his home in Millington on October 29, 2021. He was a Retired United States Marine Corps Master Gunnery Sergeant, with 27 years active service. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Claudette Montgomery Lewis, two daughters, Melissa Lutz, (PK) and Teresa Lewis, four Grandsons, Joshua Lutz (Kimberly), Patrick Hillard (Karlyn), Damin Hillard and Eric Lutz and his favorite Granddaughter Sarah Lutz. He is also survived by three Great-Grandsons, David Lutz, Evan Lutz and Patrick Hillard, Jr., due in January 2022. Other survivors are brothers Ronnie Lewis (Phyllis) of Johnson City and Eddie Lewis (Alethia) of Butler TN and one sister Karen Robey (Tim) of Johnson City. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Mary Lewis of Johnson City, sister Patsy Adams-Hollifield of Johnson City,  and sister Lynda Irick of Goose Creek, S.C. He was a member of New Salem Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder, Deacon and taught the adult Sunday school class. He graduated from Happy Valley High School in 1965 and joined the Marine Corps on the delayed enlistment program. He reported to Parris Island to begin training in September 1965. He graduated from Marine Boot Camp in November 1965 and served continuously until his retirement in September 1992. He served one complete and one partial tour in South Vietnam as well as numerous deployments to Japan and Okinawa. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Marine Corps League and a member of the American Legion. After retiring from the Marine Corps, he attended and received an AA Degree in Business Administration from Shelby State Community College, graduating Suma Cum Laude. He then transferred to the University of Memphis and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA degree in Business Management. He worked at FedEx Express for 17 years and retired in 2010 as a Logistics Specialist. Visitation was held at Munford Funeral Home, Millington Chapel on Nov. 1. Going Home Celebration was held at New Salem Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Nov. 2 with the Reverend Dr. Paul Criss officiating. Burial with full military honors was at the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery Nov. 3. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the charity of the giver’s choice.
