EDWARD ‘EDDIE’ BARKELEW

Edward “Eddie” Barkelew, 73, of Munford, passed away peacefully at his home in Brighton on October 28, 2025. Eddie was born on March 27, 1952 in St. Louis, Missouri to Whitie and Jessie Barkelew. He was raised in the Methodist Church and was saved and baptized in Christ in 1969. Eddie was proud to be an Eagle Scout and a graduate of Munford High School. Eddie continued to show his dedication to his Tipton County community through service. He served as a volunteer fireman for the Munford Fire Department, alongside his younger brother, Alan. Eddie also served as alderman for the town of Atoka from 1991-1999. Eddie demonstrated a strong love and loyalty in every aspect of his life, whether it be work, friends, or his family. His word was steadfast. Eddie attempted retirement from ITW Paslode after 35 years. But his hands could not be idle. He then went to work and subsequently retired from Delfield in Covington. Retirement led Eddie to his shop, which he enjoyed daily, continuing to work on anything he could find. He also found joy in a good drag race or tractor pull. Eddie is preceded in death by his parents, Whitie and Jessie Barkelew. He is survived by his brother, Alan Barkelew (Debbie), his daughter, Jennifer Easley (Mark), his son, Justin Barkelew (Roxanne), eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Service was held Oct. 30 at Munford Funeral Home – Munford with interment in Helen Crigger Cemetery in Munford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donation be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis.

RUDY CATES

Rudy Cates was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and a lover of music, who went home to be with the Lord on October 23,2025 with his wife at his side. Rudy’s faith guided every part of his journey. He was a member of Rosemark Baptist Church in Millington.  His laughter, wisdom, and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Interment was held in Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home on Oct. 29 in Millington. 

HELEN JEAN CONLEY

Helen Jean Conley, 88, passed away on October 26, 2025. The family received friends on Oct. 30 until the service at Munford Funeral Home – Munford Chapel. The interment was in Helen Crigger Cemetery. Munford Funeral Home had charge.

RUTH JASINSKI

Ruth Jasinski, 81, of Memphis passed away Saturday, October 18, 2025. Graveside service were held Oct. 25 at Sueleter Cemetery in Millington. Millington Funeral Home had charge. 

ROBERT ‘BOB’ VERN LAKEY

Robert “Bob” Vern Lakey, born on September 11, 1942, passed away peacefully in Covington, on October 26, 2025. Bob began his military career with a naval commission in the late 1950s and went on active duty at the Naval Air Technical Training Center in Millington, in 1960. He served six years during the Vietnam era and was assigned to the Navy’s elite “Hurricane Hunters,” collecting meteorological data from inside hurricanes for transmission to the weather center in Miami. Following his military service, Bob joined the American Radio Corporation of America at Kennedy Space Center, and later Boeing, where he contributed to the historic Apollo lunar missions. One of his proudest achievements was receiving a certificate recognizing his role in the launch of Apollo 11—the mission that first landed humans on the moon in 1969. Funeral services was held Oct. 30 at the Covington Funeral Home chapel with interment in Covington Memorial Gardens.  The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the Covington Funeral Home. The family requests that donations be made to either St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital or the Tipton County Museum, Veterans Memorial and Nature Center.  

AUBREY H. MONTGOMERY

Aubrey H. Montgomery, 97, went to be with the Lord on October 25, 2025. Graveside service was held Oct. 29 in Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home. 

ELOISE MORGAN SINGLETON

Eloise Morgan Singleton, 81 of Millington,  passed away on October 23, 2025. There will be a viewing for Mrs. Singleton on Thursday, Nov. 6 from 5-7 p.m. at Jefferson Mortuary, Inc. – Chapel, 7788 Church Street, Millington.  An additional viewing will be held on Nov. 7 from 10-10:55 a.m. with her funeral service to begin at 11 a.m. at The Word Church Millington, 8641 Bishop Roger Christopher Drive, Millington. Interment will follow at Northridge Woodhaven Cemetery, 6755 Highway 51 North in Millington. Jefferson Mortuary, Inc. has charge.

CAROLYN ANN CHIPMAN WOOD

Carolyn Ann (Chipman) Wood, 79, passed away peacefully and surrounded by love on October 23, 2025. Graveside services were held Oct. 29, at the Quito Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, send donations in her memory to either The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (https://alumni.uthsc.edu/your-gift/) for a designated ADRD-related research area or the Alzheimer’s Association (https://www.alz.org/).
