PATRICIA ‘PATTE’ FOX FOLTS Patricia Fox Folts, aka “Wonder Woman”, was 78 years old when she passed away while surrounded by her family and looking straight into the glory of heaven. Patte was born March 2, 1937 in Memphis, Tennessee. Floyd Douglas Holland and Genevieve “Jean” Fox Holland raised their three children, Patte Fox, Dean Fox, and Floyd Douglas II, in Lucy, Tennessee, where Patte’s cousin, Jackie Ticer Hurdle, became her sister-cousin. Her family eventually moved to Missionary Ridge, just outside of Chattanooga, Tennessee, where she eventually went out on a double date and fell for the “other” guy: Lavens Douglas Folts. Doug became her everything and when she passed, he said, “she was my friend, my advisor, my helper and my love. Wonder Wonder got her wings.” Patte devoted her life to supporting Doug’s career as an Air Force navigator and was an authentic philanthropist. Among her many enormous projects, she will surely be remembered for her leadership in the volunteer effort in “Operation Babylift,” at the end of the Vietnam War. As the ultimate Colonel’s wife, Patte became the epitome of the “hostess with the mostest”, made the best chocolate pie on Earth and managed all of this while raising her five children and owning a pre-school: The Little Big School. Home was “where your stuff is” and within 72 hours of each new station, the curtains were hung and each new house became home. Lake Claiborne, Louisiana was ultimately her heart-home and it was where she put her roots down, became the President of the United Methodist Women, served on the Herbert Ford Museum board, joined the Garden Club, went on her “Walk to Emmaus” and practiced her “fourth days” through the countless ways she served our Lord. Despite leaving what they believed would be their last home, built next door to their best friends, Pat and J.K. Brown, on Lake Claiborne in Homer, Louisiana, they moved to Katy, Texas, hung more curtains, made it their home and Patte developed enduring friendships and continued to play her beloved bridge games until the very end of her life. Patte was a ferocious competitor, especially playing Scrabble with her grandkids, and somehow, these game times were some of the most intimate moments she spent with her family and friends. When asked what she wanted her legacy to be, Patte said, “The I of me is the 5 of you.” She prayed aloud each night with Doug, for their children, 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Patte was a disciple to so many, but especially so with her grandchildren: through her example, she compelled them to be seekers. Patte remained a member of Wesley Chapel in Homer, Louisiana and visited often, even while living in Katy. Her love of Christ was contagious: is contagious. Patte was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Douglas Holland and Genevieve Fox Holland and her youngest brother, Floyd Douglas Holland, II. Celebrating her life and mourning her death are her five children, Patrick Douglas Folts and his wife, Lori, Michael Fairfax Folts and his wife, Barb, Kelly Fox Lockwood Folts and his wife Tina, Angela Kristin Foster and her husband, David, and Suzanne Folts Watson and her husband, David. Patte’s sister, Dean Fox Holland and surrogate sister, Jackie Ticer Hurdle, will celebrate her life in their travels and laughs galore. All who knew Patte, will know how her grandchildren, Patrice Madigan Mankowski, Nicholas Madigan Folts, Megan Madigan Folts, Chad Michael Folts, Kyle Douglas Folts, Robert Cory Folts, Bailey Holland Hamer, Austin David Foster, Sydney Kristin Campbell and Aubrey Frances Schake Moore, were the loves of her life: she was their Grandma and their Honey. As love multiplies, so did Patte’s family and her abiding love of her 9 great-grandchildren, Avery Holland Mankowski, Preston Brian Mankowski, Kaylee Madigan Folts, Zachary Gracen Folts, Lincoln Jack Folts, Lawson Michael Folts, Milana James Folts, Kadence Grace Folts, Kampbell Fox Folts. With two more great-grandchildren due within the coming year, Patte longed to meet them before she went to her final and eternal home. Patte was also very close to Doug’s sister’s and their husbands, Carole and John Dowd, and Stuart “Lylie” and Jim Holt. Patte’s nieces and nephews were loved deeply, along with their children. Patte, Mom, Grandma, Honey, will be sorely missed, but just as she taught us all that “a gift twice given is twice loved”, we know her gift was her love and will forever be our “Christmas Leftovers.” Visitation is at First United Methodist Church located at 501 West 3rd Street, Homer, Louisiana, 71040 on Oct. 21, 2015 from 9 –11 a.m. The funeral service will also be held there, beginning at 11 a.m. Graveside services will follow for family and close friends. All are encouraged to join Patte’s family at the reception at Wesley Chapel beginning at 1, located at 3647 Highway 146, Homer, Louisiana, 71040. Alamarene Jefferson, 102, of Millington, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015, at her residence. Services will be at Oct. 24, 11 a.m. in Riverside Ca at West Canaan MB Church. Visitation will be at Jefferson Mortuary, 5-7 p.m.
